What Reddit says

Redditors generally recognize the Roomba s9+ as a powerful robot vacuum with excellent carpet-cleaning performance, but its navigation issues, maintenance costs, and reliability concerns make it a less appealing choice at its original premium price. It may suit homes with lots of carpet and pet hair, but buyers looking for smarter navigation and better overall value may prefer newer alternatives.

“I think the S9+ is the best option. I've tried a lot of flagship robots and it still amazes me how much better it is at vacuuming on carpet than everything else (except Dyson). Since it doesn't have obstacle avoidance, you just have to make sure to keep the floor clear of things it shouldn't eat... mainly cords.”

“My S9+ is a complete pile of shit. It constantly does stupid things and the rubber on the wheels needs replacing sometimes, but it's so hard to replace that they want you to replace the entire wheel drive unit. I refused and replace the rubber anyway, but that is a completely difficult job to do when I do it, which is now twice. I'm done with Dyson robo vacs, now having had five or six of them..”

“Cords is a problem for sure. My grandparents have an s9+ and it gets caught up on either cords or stuck under the couch. I’d use the mapping feature to keep it away from those areas, but I don’t know how to read the map properly”

“The charging contacts on the J7+ are a huge issue. The right contact melted into the base and no longer makes contact in less than 3 months. The replacement base lasted a few weeks.”

“I have three robots (Ecovacs x1 omni, Roomba j5+, and a Roborock S6 Pure). When my Roborock had constant issues I looked into durability and longevity as the number 1 criteria and found that almost all comments from owners with high hours (maybe 800+) were either roborock S5s, old random pattern roombas, and i series…”

“MOST DURABLE? Alright then, new robot vacuums wont really do that. I know i will get downvoted for this but if you dont need self emptying, mopping etc, just pick up a second hand Roomba 500 series, they are known for being extremely reliable. Some 600 series like 675 or 690 are 500 series with wifi and some minor…”
