What Reddit says about Xiaomi

Redditors tend to view Xiaomi as a good value-oriented robot vacuum brand, offering solid cleaning performance and useful smart features for the money. Its strengths are affordability, LiDAR navigation on many models, and a feature-rich app, while its weaknesses include model-dependent obstacle avoidance, mopping limitations, and varying after-sales support. Buyers should compare specific models and check local warranty and parts availability before purchasing.

“If I can make a suggestion, as you are dealing with a ton of hair, I would recommend a Dreame or Xaomi robot vacuum, and upgrading them the compatible tricut brush. The hair puts a ton of strain on the robot vacuum motor, and the tricut brush literally cuts the hair as it spins so it can easily be sucked up. If you aren't prepared to get an expensive commercial grade robot vacuum, I would recommend getting two robot vacuums to ease the load and to provide backup in case one fails. If you had two Eufy L60 SES models for example, with each robot only being responsible for 1/2 the building each then there is a higher chance of both units surviving long term. I've seen multiple non commercial grade robot vacuums in salons, rental storage facilities, and offices with each robot in charge of a limited amount of space.”

“Not sure if they can steal it but better to be careful. I would recommend Roborock or Xiaomi, both of them are good”

“Xiaomi 1c. Had it 5 years now. Its not fancy. Pretty sure it was $360. Does what its supposed to. I have replaced the battery with a higher capacity one. Other than that, filter and brush replacement / clean. I love it.”

“Yep this is sadly true. Dreame, roborock, and Narwal don’t have good customer service compared to Eufy and Xiaomi (if this brand is available). It seems iRobot is also struggling with customer service so I’d recommend buying robots from an authorized retailer like Costco for easier customer service if you need to return it if it’s defective.”

“I'm looking for a robot vac as well and trying to research. I thought Xiaomi (https://www.mi.com/uk/product/xiaomi-robot-vacuum-x20-max/) looks good and they do have a few different models as well.”

“Yeah, the price is definitely the biggest hurdle. From what I’ve experienced, the mopping on the Saros 10R is pretty solid, the rotating pads and the extra pressure help with everyday grime, and the edge mop is nice for corners. But it still seems more like maintenance cleaning than something that replaces a real deep mop. Honestly, the Xiaomi Vacuum 5 Pro sounds like a really good value pick:))”

“I feel mid range (no funky new tech) with grounded features are the best. It’s a good value proposition and I won’t be too mad if it misses here and there. About reviews - it can get tricky. Remember researching around Roborock, Dreame, Eufy, a year or so ago. Kinda landed on the Dreame L10s ultra but took a chance on the Xiaomi X20 Max as I didn’t want a camera. Worked out really well. I did end up buying the Dreame for my mum, and she absolutely hates the thing haha. Different people different strokes.”

“I wouldn’t buy a Xiaomi product for a person I hated. Security researchers keep ringing the warning bells regarding their products, from a lack of security updates - to actually spyware on devices, to being actually being blocked from US sale at times. Their phones have been found to have clear spyware, and apps that bypass standard Android privileges. It’s NOT paranoia to be wary of and avoid Chinese shit like xiaomi. Chinese based companies must and do act at the behest of the CCP. They by Chinese law MUST have CCP representation in top management, who can veto or require anything the CCP so desires. And no this isn’t racism or such, it’s anti authoritarian, their President has amassed so much he’s had himself named President for life. They’re in the middle of placing ethnic minorities in concentration camps still, a literal genocide. If you speak out against the CCP, you, and your family will be disappeared.”

“My roborock failed after 13 months with (I forgot the specific error) but it refuses to fully dock and hold a charge. Looked it up and it was very very common issue that was happening with people and Xiaomi refused to fix it since it was outside of the one year warranty”

“Has anyone got plush carpet and a robot vacuum cleaner that works on it? Have a xaomi one which was fine on our old carpet, but got smartstrand long pile carpet and the vacuum gets stuck on it all the time.”

“How long does drying take in "Quick dry" mode? The opinion says: "The mop roller is not properly dried. After the automatic washing process is very wet, you can then use the app to set up whether you choose 3-hour fast drying or 5-hour standard drying. However, it does not matter which variant you choose, the roller is still too wet when it dries. This causes a very unpleasant odor when wiping after just 2 days. The floor was still clean, but the whole apartment smelled of an old mop. Disgusting." I had a similar problem with my Xiaomi X20 Max when the washing tray was not cleaned for very long and was full of cat fur. Unfortunately, the dirty water pump broke down and Amazon agreed to return the money. I'm looking for a new robot vacuum or vacuum mop.”

“Have had two, dreame and Xiaomi. Both broke within warranty period. Dreame just took it back with no questions, the Xiaomi is still being repaired…must cost them much more than the machine itself”

“I got a d10 plus cheap about a year and a half ago, she's a champ! Not super duper feature rich, but it's been robust being that it runs alongside all the xiaomi stuff. Map and everything sets up nice with home assistant also!”
