“Wait a minute, we’re talking about robots here and you come throwing us a curveball with a handheld?! I have more square feet than I care to share but what I found was, the lower end Roombas just weren’t worth their price; however, the higher-tier ones seem so do fairly well for “maintenance”. I say maintenance because it’s not used for deep cleaning, such as a handheld unit is. Also, have you ever driven a Rolls Royce? I suggest you don’t. They’re nice. Going from a Dyson to a Miele is like going from a BMW to a Rolls Royce. I’d highly suggest one over a Dyson ;)”From thread: What's the best vacuum robot for a large floor plan? ↗

“It's a GREAT washing machine, perhaps only bested by a Miele but for American made units, it is hands down #1 in my experience. It's the Toyota 4Runner of washing machines.”From thread: Is Speed Queen still a good choice? ↗
“We just replaced our Samsung (after only 5 years) for a T1 and W1. Worlds apart. I’m so happy. My wife insisted on Miele. I wanted a Bosch. But for the few hundred extra I would not hear it if anything would be off the coming years. I think Bosch would have been solid too. But these things are amazing.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗

“One of the biggest issues in retail is that customers are not willing to pay extra for longevity but prefer flashy features Price gets pushed down and some quality products will be less so, but still miles above what others test for There will always be outliers, some inexpensive machine will lasts, some high quality machines will fail But overall built quality on a Miele is still well above the norm”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I bought the basic W1 18 months ago to match the T1 dryer as I needed to switch to a ventless dryer. I chose to do without twindos because I wasn’t prepared to do maintenance at floor level - switching detergent bottles, checking for leaks, etc. I ended up using Miele powders, one for colors for my clothes and one labeled for white for towels, exercise clothes etc., with an occasional booster like Biz for serious problems. Everything comes out clean without excess wear and the dryer takes less time than the models that don’t use heat pumps.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“My W1 and T1 have been solid performers over the past 4 years. We bought a higher spec W1 with the Twindos cartridges due to availability and I love the convenience and wash quality. We’ve had occasional issues with false water inlet errors, which is known and documented. I never addressed with Miele as the frequency is low. The T1 heat pump dryer has been flawless and, once used to the clothes exiting slightly damp, I find the drying to be very good for ventless.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I’ve had my Miele washer and dryer for five or six years now. They’ve been working pretty well although about six months ago my dryer lost WiFi capability and the display started to flash about every two seconds. No error message displayed. Operated normally otherwise. I eventually had a service tech come out and diagnose. The motherboard needed replacing which ran me $750 to have replaced. That being said, I’d never to back to a regular dryer that vents outside. And the TwinDos feature on my washer is great.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“We did a kitchen refresh a year ago and installed a W1 washer and T1 dryer. We have space constraints and were looking for electric ventless dryers. Admittedly our old set was pretty basic and we aren’t well versed in high end w/d’s. After a bit of a rough start it’s been bliss every load since. I’d throat punch anyone who’d try to take these away from me.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗

“I might be jumping in late... Anyways, I never had Speed Queen, but I had had Miele for 16 years until I moved to a new house. When I purchased my Miele it was one of their better washers. They didn't have TwinDos then, and just like you I would not be interested in those. I remember I purchased sheets at Restoration Hardware and my housekeeper kept complimenting me on their quality as they seemed to last forever. When I moved to a new house that had a very basic washer I had new RH sheets and those were gone within a couple of years. I noticed similar signs of wear and tear on my clothes. Miele is proud of its "honycomb" drum stating that it's very gentle on clothes and I can confirm this. What I did not like about it is a small opening, so it's hard to fit in a pillow or a duvet if you want to wash it. Also, like most European washer models it uses very little water. Front loaders were created in Europe to save water. While the idea is appealing overall, I doubt this type of washer rinse clothes well. I now use home-made all natural laundry powder, but when I had Miele I was using commercial detergents and I knew they never rinsed well and left some residue on my clothes or anything I washed in there. If I could, I would probably have two washers in my house: Miele for washing laundry that requires delicate care like wools, delicates, nice sheets and Speed Queen for washing larger items.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“Most appliances in my house our Miele. I have owned two w/d sets the both lasting 23 and 25 years respectively. SQ does not compare to both Miele sets. The reason I didn’t buy a third was the capacity. Can king size sheet (one) fit in the smaller Miele unit. I had the Miele Touchtronic W4842 front loader 4cf capacity. I am thinking of selling the 5month old SQ set and replacing with the smaller Miele unit If it can handle one king size sheet.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“Debated on both and went with the Miele and couldn’t be happier. Twindos is handy af and wanted something efficient.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“Miele is more advanced and energy-efficient than Speed Queen. These brands can easily last 20–25 years, so the more efficient option will save you a significant amount of money in the long run. Both brands are very durable, but personally, I would choose Miele.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“Ive done a lot of research on this topic and I bought a Miele washer and dryer. I've had them for a few years now and absolutely love them. They are probably the nicest appliances in my house. To answer some of your questions - The Miele will be much gentler on your clothes than the SQ - If you need repairs the SQ will be easier to fix than the Miele. If you get the Miele make sure in advance that there is someone in your area who can service it. Miele does sell extended warranties, not sure about SQ - You can use any detergent/bleach/fabric softener you want in a Miele, you don't need to use TwinDos. However I think Twindos cleans great and is worth the insane price. - Yeah, the SQ looks like a 1980s Amana, because that is essentially what it is - Both the SQ and Miele are not made with the same materials or to the same standards as they were, say, 20 years ago. But either are built better than anything else out there now. Either should still last 20 years if you properly maintain them (and the Miele will require more maintenance because it's a front loader) - The SQ dosen't have ANY bells or whistles. The Miele is ALL bells and whistles Other considerations: both the SQ and Miele have smaller drums than the LGs or GEs or whatever. You wouldn't be able to wash a king size comforter in either. The Miele can heat water, the SQ is limited by whatever your hot water heater is set at. Finally, if you are going to buy a Miele do it now. Next year they are switching production from Germany to Poland Hope this helps”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“I was looking at getting a Miele (or Bosch), but they have one drawback for a family: the SpeedQueen has a much larger capacity then the Miele. The SpeedQueen can handle a lot more laundry per load than the Miele. I prefer a front load as they use less water and are gentler on clothes, so I got the LG that CR/Wirecutter recommends for this one reason.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“My Miele washer lasted 22 years. I recently bought another one.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“We bought a home with a Miele washer and dryer 5 years ago and have had zero problems with them. I believe they are 12 years old. As others have mentioned, the washer in particular feels a bit small, as we have 3 small boys and do a lot of laundry. However, I’d say the smaller size is worth it for the top notch quality and the fact that we’ve had zero issues.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“Miele has bigger machines in their pro/commercial lines. But they're more costly, probably more durable as well. Edit: I use the timer function through the app on my machine so it is finished when I get up in three morning. Then one load is done before the day starts. Convenient and common on most machines I would think”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“I have a Miele with the twindos system, as well as an elderly and mildly incontinent dog requiring similar types of wash (though maybe not as much). I’d echo that the machine does a great job cleaning soiled clothes, there is a sanitize wash and a pre-wash/soak setting that really is fantastic at getting out any stains, smells, etc. It’s been a godsend I absolutely love it. That said it’s small, so if you’re used to doing 2 big loads a week this will probably double the number of cycles (though it’s very efficient water and energy wise). I have a full sized dryer, so can’t comment on that.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“I think folks also don’t realize that the Twindos system is a 2 part chemical wash sequence. It allows for a higher degree of clean than a normal single part detergent. I was very skeptical and figured we wouldn’t use it…. But Miele knew what they were doing. Plus you can always set it to bypass Twindos if you need a specialty detergent (Woolf for example)”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“Yes, you certainly don’t have to use the Twindos system. You can use whatever detergent you like. In my opinion the only main cons to Miele is they are a bit expensive, and if you are used to typical jumbo N. American sized washing machines then it will feel a bit small to you. They also take a somewhat long time to run through a regular wash cycle. Otherwise though, they get clothes very clean, are efficient and quiet, are very well-engineered, and are gentle on clothes. The dryer uses a heat pump and is also very efficient and gentle on clothes. If Miele fits your budget I wholeheartedly recommend them for 90% of people. They are very different Speed Queen which can be repaired easily and large capacity, but are a very rudimentary design that wears down clothes and wastes water and energy compared to modern systems.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“My Miele pair was perfection for my baby items including cloth diapers. Mine were the older large model ones that looked like big American style front loaders.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“I absolutely love our Miele. I say this a lot but people really lament the fact that clothes don’t last like they used to - after throwing clothes into their agitator speed queen machine then cooking the same clothes in the huge rudimentary dryer. I’m here wearing 15 year old Calvin Klein knockoff underwear I bought from china and they look like the day I bought them.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“Even in energy saving mode it gets my stuff clean. 🙃”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“My oldest Miele set it like 12 years old and my newest is 6 (multiple properties). Never needed a repair. My 17 year old Miele dishwasher did recently break, but it was easy to DIY after watching YouTube.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“because my miele washer dryer (wt1) is ventless, - and this is not something i’ve specifically researched, - but i haven’t come across a miele washer dryer that isn’t ventless. as far as i know, miele (washer/)dryers are either heat pump or condenser models (heat pump being a fancier condenser technology, i believe) neither of which use vents. (which i personally am eternally grateful for, praise be to miele)”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. Looking for reviews advice etc. thanks! ↗

“Yes, it's worth it. I've had a few Bosch WD units, lots of problems, and not easy to clean the filter and pull out assembly. Then I switched to Miele, so much better in performance, quietness, and better results.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“People who spend that kind of money on appliances can be fickle. If you go to the local store that stocks Miele appliances you will probably find some units on sale that were ordered and not taken. In any event they are worth the money.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I have a 10 year old stack at a rental property and my personal units are 5 years old and I've never had any issues with either of them. Neither have twindos, I'm very picky about detergent and prefer to use powder most of the time, so that was not a needed feature. I'd never want to use a different machine. They are just top notch for fabric care as the programming is really specified. Sheets and dress shirts are always bright white, you can rewaterproof outerwear and tents, I haven't sent out dry-cleaning in 5 years, all handwash only items are run through the machine. We are also a paper free kitchen, so being able to have a true hot wash @170f means all the grease and stains come out of the napkins and rags. The dryers are great as they are gentler on clothes, so clothes last longer. Whether you should buy one vs a whirlpool is really a question about features. Miele is a laundry computer with a ton of value add, however only you can answer as to what your needs are. Regardless you should get a heat pump dryer to save money on your heating and cooling bills. Vented dryers just blow money outside.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“Miele offers spare parts for at least 10 years after the end of production.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I live in one of those places and while it was a dishwasher repair rather than a laundry repair I was stunned at how thorough and affordable it was. The tech recommended a few "while I'm in there" replacements and I thought "oh, here it comes, this was too good to be true" and the tech said (roughly) "No additional labor charge since I am already in there but parts x, y, and z cost four, seven, and eighteen dollars each." I'm such a Miele evangelist now. If you live in a place that is served by Miele factory techs, you're a fool not to buy Miele.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I just bought the T1 and W1, couldn't be happier. They work really well. Keep in mind it is smaller than most other washers/dryers, but they work well. I got hooked on Miele after getting their dishwasher. It changed my life.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“We just bought a set so I can’t speak to the long term point, but so far we really like them and they are fairly quiet. They also clean the clothes quite well, which is probably important.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I would highly recommend. The sales agent told us that the higher models are essentially the same. Sort of similar to a base model car which has the same engine, just nicer finishings. On that basis, we went for the entry level and have been particularly impressed with how soft the dryer is on clothes.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“We got Miele best dryer second best washer 6 years ago and never regretted it. They are the gentlest on clothes and the heat pump dryer never shrinks anything. The washer clean fantastic with cold water washes most of the time(except when sanitize is necessary). They are very energy efficient (no one ever calculates the cost of makeup air when using a conventional dryer) which makes them even more efficient when you heat or air conditioning your home. Miele=👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I have used the TwinDos system with every load for the past 4 years and have never had a problem. Don't know why you're detergent should be getting "gummy". I've never experienced that problem.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“First saw Miele in Germany 2005. Our family found it was more affordable to have a Miele over time less mechanical issues. We have one in America, it is a good washer. We do not dry our cloths. But, whatever they sell it for it is worth it. We have no problems and my family's washer is still working fine.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗

“No one is paying me for my reviews here. I've worked on all of those brands listed and dealt with tech support and warranty departments. Miele would be my second choice after Speed Queen. Maytag or Whirlpool would be my 3rd. GE, Bosch, Samsung and LG I would take a set of washer and dryer for free or buy dirt cheap but wouldn't pay retail for. GE does make good refrigerators and Bosch would be my first choice for dishwashers.”From thread: What’s the best washer dryer set to buy ↗
“Miele is great if you have the budget for it. They are incredibly efficient, have among the best cleaning abilities out there, and are very gentle on your clothes. However, they're Euro-style, meaning they have roughly half the capacity of standard US models, while costing the same as a higher-end LG unit. That said, Miele claims to build their machines to last 20 years, versus the 10 years claimed by most other mfgs. You also have to make sure there are service technicians available in your area in the off chance that you need them.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? “I'd recommend Miele. We have a Samsung washer-dryer, the drying function isn't great - which is why we got a separate Miele dryer - but it washes alright and has been going strong for 9 years. My main issue with it is that it frequently gets a bit mouldy smelling despite keeping the door open and doing the sanitation cycles. We have to use sterilising tablets in the wash to help with the smell. My parents have had Miele washers and dryers for 30 years and they're excellent work horses and repairable.”From thread: What is the best reliable washer/dryer brand? ↗
“I have never owned top loaders so can’t comment if that’s what you’re looking for. However, I’ve had two mieles washers and also driers and been delighted with them. Both washers and driers still working fine and then eldest pair is 14 now. Both sets have the built in weigh scales. Second set have twin dos. I use the Miele washing liquid as it has lipase in it. I’d def buy a twin dos machine again. Having said that one drier has a touch screen on off button and I wouldn’t buy that over a physical on/off button.”From thread: Any recommendations for washing and dryer machines available in australia? ↗
“Miele or Bosch (German made) front loaders. I’ve had 2 Miele’s for the last 25 years. Built like tanks. The rubber door seal got torn on the second Miele because someone left a screw in a pocket that went through the wash. Wasn’t going to be cheap to fix through a service agent, so bought the part online. I’m not that handy, but replaced it myself with the help of YouTube. I do recommend a set of rubber washing machine feet too. They really do cut down the vibration. Common complaints about Miele (16)
General comments about the brand that don't name a specific model.
“A lot of people who had the Miele washers and dryers prior to the launch of the W1 and T1 series have said the same thing as you. I could tell just by looking at photos that the W1 and T1 sets were inferior to the series prior. To me, the build quality is no different than Electrolux and on par with Bosch (Miele use to be a peg or two above Bosch).”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I’ve had two series of Miele, the W1 series (slowly being replaced by W2 from this year on), and the series before that. I was surprised and a bit disappointed in the subtle decline in build quality in the W1 compared to the previous older series. Just not as solid, silent and refined. The newer model was also the only Miele line to break and require serious attention. And the service response was pathetic at best. I know that the general trend is towards things not being as good as they used to be, but when the pricing continues to climb, I expect the quality to keep pace. At the moment I don’t feel the answer is clear cut wrt Miele. I am looking at other brands. Blinkers are off.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I recently bought the washer and dryer. It has been a totally nightmare. I purchased and received these items in August of 2025. I had to call in a tech because my washing machine would not drain. Had a tech come out after calling the store where I purchased it because they said that they were looking into getting someone but never did. The dryer door cracked and when I called in October to get a replacement they told me that I would have to pay 750.00 to replace because it is not under warranty. They told me that it would have to come from Germany and would not arrive til November 14. Called them back on November 24th and they told me that the door was here and they would reach out to find out when it would be installed. Called back a week later because I received no call back to find out that the company installing the door had just ordered it a couple of days ago. It is now January and still no call or door. DO NOT BUY THESE MACHINES”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“Steer well clear if I were you! My parents have had Miele washing machines and separate driers for over 40yrs. They USED to be the 'Rolls Royce' but NOT anymore! The washing machine packed up after less than 2 yrs and the new air pump drier has got to be the most expensive white elephant that my parents have ever bought! They have had it for about a year and it is next to useless! We replaced the washing machine with an LG Washer/Drier last year and are seriously considering replacing the 12 month old 'white elephant' with a 2nd LG washer drier.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“They can be Bugatti even but they are sooo darn small I was forced to sell them. I do not have the time to do laundry 2 to 3 times a week for a family of 4. Especially their washers. Also, you need to absolutely make sure your water is soft. I went with Electrolux, 3 times Miele size, costs 3 times less and did not detect any loss of quality. With care if they last 10 yeand I but a 2nd unit even after 20 years they will still cost less.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I have washer and dryer. Both had combined 3 - 4 service calls in <18m. Build and QA quality are terrible. Service people were great, eventually fixed the problem. “Agree. My Miele W1 malfunctioned only 2.5 years after I bought it. It flooded my laundry room due to a leaky valve. With the quote service company gave me for parts (hot and cold water valves) and installation, it makes more sense to just buy a new washing machine. It won’t be another Miele for sure. Stay away from Miele W1! I will never buy Miele again.”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. Looking for reviews advice etc. thanks! ↗
“I used to swear by Miele as the best washer and dryer on the market – they were incredibly reliable and a fantastic investment. In fact, I'd have recommended them without hesitation just six years ago. But unfortunately, I can't in good conscience recommend Miele washers and dryers anymore. It's truly disappointing coming from someone who has been a lifelong fan and has owned multiple Miele machines. The latest models, including the W1 and Little Giant, do a very medicore job of rinsing laundry. In fact, they're so ineffective that I can't recommend them for fabric care or skin sensitivity reasons. At this point, the only machines I feel comfortable recommending are conventional deep-fill washers, like Speed Queen. They actually rinse out all the detergent from your fabrics, ensuring that you don’t end up wearing soap. If you're lucky enough to find an older, new-stock Miele TouchTronic or another older model, I’d say go for it and don’t look back. I even convinced a friend to buy one before they disappeared from retailers. But, sadly, the current Miele lineup is a recipe for disappointment.”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. Looking for reviews advice etc. thanks! ↗
“I am staying with my friend who has a brand new mealie washer and dryer and the dryer needs to be run three or four times to get a small load dry, maddening! Doesn’t matter what mode I put it in, 3 to 4 times for every load, making me crazy!”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. Looking for reviews advice etc. thanks! ↗

“My husband purchased the Miele washer and dryer recently. I am more than happy to divorce him if the washer and dryer can be thrown out of the house . They are terrible machines that cannot do basic laundry. Miele should fire whoever made these machines”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. “Our Miele was defective after 4 years - not repairable. Never ever Miele again!”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I have had nothing but problems with my Miele clothes washer. I would never buy one again. The problem is the TwinDos system. The blue liquid gets gummy and pops the hose flooding the base floor. I’ve had three service calls in two months and $400 in parts. Today, first attempt to use after the last service call and it immediately shows a waterproof error. I’ve had Bosch forever in a second home with zero issues.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“What I will say and what brought me here is that these machines are incredibly confusing. I'm sure it makes sense, but it will say the laundry is done and then keep spinning which I assume is to keep it from creasing but what am I am not even sure how to stop it or unlock it properly. And it beeps non-stop for no reason.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“Man I did deep dive on this last year when our old one died. Ended up with a Speed Queen front loader and it's built like a tank, no fancy electronics to break. Most people here push Miele but the repair costs in Australia are insane if something goes wrong. Whatever you get just avoid anything with wifi or touch screens, that stuff always fails first”From thread: Any recommendations for washing and dryer machines available in australia? ↗
“not anymore. they don't make a non smart one, and the american market unit works differently from every one i've used in europe. ours in the US is a true nightmare -- won't run when their servers are down (the what?), moved most options to an app that is buggy, the agitation patterns have damaged all of our clothes. i am truly floored after a lifetime of using the miele only. they screwed something up very badly, multiple things it seems”From thread: Best washer and dryer in 2026 that actually lasts? Neutral takes about Miele (12)
General comments about the brand that don't name a specific model.
“LG 100%, had one for about 18 years until i finally decided to buy a new LG washer in 2024, best one in reliability so far, and during the 18 years i only had maintenance twice. In my grandmas house she also had an lg that lasted around 16-17 years and same for my other grandmas house and is still working perfectly to this day. They are probably the best with one of the best reliability rate while having smart features such as ThinQ, AIDD, etc, while also being cheaper than brands such as Miele.”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? “Not all people are rich and theres alternative to speed queen and lg is top 3 still and dont break like whirlpool and if you said lg break easier because of digital pars then miele and akso will not last since they have led screens and wifi and etc”From thread: LG or Whirlpool washer and dryer? “I'm willing to pay for longevity, and I do not want flashy features, don't need my laundry machine to be "smart" or AI or wi fi or connected to an app or anything. The problem is it is hard to know what is going to have longevity. Miele seems to have a good reputation on the one hand, on the other, recent reports of decline in quality. LG seems to have a good rep for the washing machines reliability also, at a much lower price.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“They’re not the Rolls Royce IMO. They have feature rich models sure, but the selling point is the build quality.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“It really boils down to the SQ cleans better, Miele uses less water. Miele parts and service is questionable stateside. IMO go with SQ.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“We are on water catchment and landed up going with LG and it still gets our farm clothing clean just fine. Major caveats - the most important thing is to not overload! Even with a fancy Miele, heavily stained clothing needs more room to tumble around. You will need to clean your sump more than normal folks do, make sure you can reach it. Also remember to run the washer clean setting now and then - I run ours every time I wash the cat's blankets (our barncats are spoiled buggers - they have a heated catbed with a blanket on it to keep the case cleaner and a cheap fleece blanket on a chair they like to snooze on. I refold a couple times as it looks grungy, but eventually it just needs a wash). We also wipe the door seal after each load - just a quick swipe nothing crazy. Hair really likes to collect in them. We have a washer-dryer combo and love it, but families often don't care for them. I like that I put clothing in, press some buttons, and it'll do the wash and dry without me needing to move things over. When it's done, it's done. They are smaller capacity though and take a long time to do a load compared to things like SpeedQueens so the trade-off is that I have to do more loads. Don't beat my clothing up near as bad though and use a crazy lot less water! If you are rural, I'd look up specifically how easy they are to order your own parts and user service. I live on a small island, so that was a major consideration for us. We did something dumb to the gasket once (don't stick a screwdriver into the drain holes to get that bit of lint at least grab the damn pliers or maybe the tweezers that are in the washroom five feet away) and it was super easy to order in a new one online and install it ourselves. If the LED display fails, that's also easy to repair on our model (this may be easier if you have worked with electronics before admittedly, but a confident beginner could totally follow along on a YouTube video I think).”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. “Maybe look into whether you can get a Miele appliance repaired in your area if needed. I'm also on a farm, and decided against buying a Miele appliance a few years ago because there's no possibility of getting a repair person if needed, which also means that the warranty coverage is meaningless (confirmed with the appliance store that sells Miele). Samsungs are pretty notorious for problems, pretty much any other brand is an upgrade IMO :)”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“A friend has a Miele machine, she is same situation as you - newborn baby with cloth diapers - and she kind of hates it. She claims that thing is just too small for family and as a consequence she has to do laundry every day. She does wash the cloth diapers there so i assume not an issue My sister also has one, she is single. She loves hers. So from that, what i am getting is that size is the only downside.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“We used them for three months while staying with family because of a kitchen reno, and they did beat our clothes to crap. Some old t-shirts that were slowly getting worn down, and multiple sweaters (washed on delicate and cold water etc) got holes the very first wash, where I previously had no problem machine washing them. So we ended up going with a pair of well reviewed LGs that I love so far. Yeah I know this is bifl and people hate them over here. I’m sure they won’t last 20 years, specially not without needing repairs. But we couldn’t afford Miele (and as a family of five I had my doubts the size was enough), so that’s what we went with. I’d rather have my jeans last 5 years longer than they would otherwise.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“Ugh you make me want it again. I’m just afraid of the (seemly unlikely) event that it does break, that we wouldn’t be able to get it repaired.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“I've heard that Miele are trickier to repair in the sense that they have a lot of stuff/features crammed into them. On the other hand, in some areas there are literally Miele repair people and I think you work directly with them rather than through your local shop. Can't give you an answer on that, though I hear that actual Miele repair visits are not cheap.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗
“my miele wt2670 has been going strong for about 16 years now, I have had to replace the drying heating element though. However, finding the part was near impossible. I got lucky one year with a second hand one showing up on ebay. been fine after it's replacement since!”From thread: Best washer and dryer in 2026 that actually lasts? (No smart junk please) ↗
