What Reddit says about Matic

Redditors see Matic as an innovative robot vacuum with excellent obstacle avoidance and privacy-focused design, but with trade-offs in cleaning performance and consistency. It may suit homes with hard floors, pets, and clutter where avoiding obstacles is a priority. However, households with lots of carpeting or heavy pet-hair buildup may prefer a more established alternative. Experiences vary, and Matic's software continues to evolve, so recent owner feedback is particularly useful when evaluating it.

“Please check out Matic Robots if in the USA. We have an actuating cleaning head that dynamically adjusts based on thickness of the rug using vision and cleans it. Thanks. 🙏🏽”

“Matic is amazing. The only thing different than every vacu-disk out there. (All designed and made in Silicon Valley vs knockoffs in China.) If you’re curious, check out Matic’s subreddit. Just read it, and you’ll know if that’s for you or if you want a roborock”

“They have designed the product to be lasting, not having a new release every year. Instead they actually listen to the community and provide meaningful software updates. Also, it’s literally never gotten stuck, so it needs zero hand holding, which I can’t say the same about Roborock.”

“Personally I like how receptive they are to their community. So many of their features and backlog are led by community feedback. I feel like I’m one ground zero of co-developing my dream product with a company who I think has the potential to be the next Dyson. They also have designed the product to work with or without their ecosystem. So even if the company goes under or kills their app or whatever, the device will still work fine. It’s hard for me to want to take bets on the future of every robotics startup so gives me some peace of mind.”

“I bought the Matic because the reviewers like it and I thought they would continually improve the product with software updates, like a Rivian or Tesla. It's been 4+ months and I'm not sure if it's ever been updated. It's been a mistake and I would never recommend one. The dumbest thing about it is that it requires an account and the app to even start it. That means that I'm the only person in the entire house who can use the vacuum. No one in my family can simply place the matic somewhere in the house (we have multiple floors) and just push the start button (the start button does nothing, as far as I can tell). There's no way to just have the matic run on a schedule or automatically either. The matic is supposed to be a compromise on suction power in exchange for intelligence, but it sucks up stupid things just like any other dumb robot vacuum I've used. I complained in the r/matic subreddit and was downvoted to oblivion. It's like a cult or something.”

“My main reason for not going Matic when I upgraded my vacuum was the clearance. I like knowing I don’t have dust bunnies growing under my furniture. My RoboRock can go under even my couch.”

“Why? Like what’s the real world use cases why it’s better than Roborock? I have Roborocks and was eyeing up the matic. But after watching videos I’m failing to see why it’s so worth the hefty price tag”
