“The Frigidaire I mentioned and SQ are 25.75" wide. I'm leaning towards the LG. Can't seem to convince wife of their front loader due to past experience ("it doesn't use enough water", "it smells").”From thread: LG vs Frigidaire washer ↗
“LG makes a good laundry line. Do not their refrigerators.”From thread: LG vs Frigidaire washer ↗
“LG is generally rated as best in laundry but they’re entry top load model I’ve wen a lot of issues with lately (wt6100 / 6105 ). Personally I think the best machine someone can buy is the WM4000 or even the 3400 (which is being replaced soon)”From thread: LG vs Frigidaire washer ↗
“Then he doesn't know what he is talking about. LG laundry products are first rate. Their refrigerators were good before the catastrophic 3rd generation linear compressor. Lots of companies make mistakes. I worked for GE when they shipped their first refrigerators with rotary compressors. They were a disaster too.”From thread: LG vs Frigidaire washer ↗
“LG front load washer, more than 10 years and not a single issue. We do at least 2 to 3 loads a week”From thread: LG vs Frigidaire washer ↗

“I got a top loading lg+dryer from Costco for $1500. After reading all of these reviews and initially planning on speed queen, I realized the old school "it just works" mentality doesn't really apply when even those have quality issues now. I'm simply putting money in my budget for the next time I need to replace them and that's that.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“Ditto. Replaced my last over a decade LG combo with a stacked set of LG’s now 5 years old and still going strong. Just make sure to clean the filter regularly, don’t use excess detergent, leave the doors slightly open when not in use, and occasionally run the tub clean cycle to prevent soap build up. Also clean inside the soap tray. Pull it out and wipe down the nozzle area up top. It can stay damp and get mildew. A tech told me once those prevent most of the issues they see. Failed deals, soap clogging, lint clogging, mold issues.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“I also +1 for LG. We’ve had our washer and dryer for 10+ years. Our washer motor needed replacement, but I was able to use YouTube and buy parts at a good price from https://www.appliancepartspros.com”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“I have a ten year old LG front load washer. Never needed a repair. I have three kids who are now teenagers. We have pets. The washer has been used a lot! But the dryer that I have found to be most reliable is a cheap whirlpool with the lint screen in the top. So that combo would cost you right at 1500.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“I went through this same “paralysis by analysis” when replacing all my appliances this past spring. Every manufacturer had terrible reviews and if you keep looking up reviews you will never buy anything. In the end I just looked for the product that best met what I needed and went with that. I picked up the LG washer and dryer and have had no problems though it has only been 4 months. I would suggest just buy what best meets your needs and budget and worry less about the manufacturer.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“Repair guy here, if you can get speed queen. If not LG front load washer & dryer is ok. Whirlpool is decent. I don’t like the newer GE stuff that much”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“No Samsung. For the love of goodness. LG if anything.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“My go to is Consumer Reports for buying information. Bought a dryer 2 months ago LG DLE 7100W $700 I’m happy with it, cost more than I wanted to pay.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“This is only one subset of data, but worth looking at the Yale Appliance Repair Stats for front loaders. For them at least, they sell significantly more LG appliances than other brands (62% of their total sales, almost 3.5x as many as Maytag, the next leading brand). Higher number sold will lead to more negative reviews just by the nature that people that have issues are more likely to write about them than a person who has none, despite the fact that their company is repairing LG appliances at a lower rate than most other brands. Granted, this data could be way better (ie, are they talking about repairing only the current year machines, or are they only repairing 10 year old units?), but it does back up the Consumer Reports ratings.”From thread: Need a new washer and dryer, going blind reading horrible reviews ↗
“Went through this last year - easily accessible, consumer machines, LG was the most consistently high rated brand I found. I have no complaints.”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? Washer and dryer ↗

“I love my LG’s. 12 years old and going strong.”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? Washer and dryer ↗
“I just bought a new washer/dryer and spent a bunch of time researching it. I ultimately got the LG WM3400CW and matching dryer. That model had the best reviews and Consumer Reports ratings and is about $750 per machine. Higher model levels just add features no one needs like wireless (I can't move clothes in or out of the machine unless I'm physically present, so why would I need to access the machine remotely?) From my research, I was surprised to learn that front loaders tend to function better and be more reliable these days. However, virtually all machines are expected to die in 10-15 years. The most reliable design is a direct drive (motor is attached directly to the drum instead of via a belt), but almost no one makes them. I think Speedqueen's top loaders are direct drive, and they are supposed to last 25+ years, but I had read complaints that they are rough on clothes, and I needed a front loader for my space (they're also quite expensive - maybe you recoup the cost down the line if you can repair your machine instead of replace, and I think they're better at handling a lot of use, but I don't do that much laundry).”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? “Had lgs for 18 years. Front load washer had to replace the pump a few times but was an easy cheap fix. Bought new lgs, got the heat pump dryer with 240v plug in. “I did quite a bit of research before landing on our LGs and they seem to be about the best for front loaders. 5 years on our set and 0 issues. My parents bought the same models last year and had a balance sensor or something go out on the washer shortly after purchase, which was obviously repaired under warranty.”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? “Last year I replaced a Kenmore Elite washer from 2007 with an LG. I just used the Energy Star site, selected front-loaders, and filtered for "Energy Star Most Efficient" and selected the one with the fewest bells and whistles, which happened to be the LG WM3400CW. So far, I've been very impressed with it: the spin cycle on it is surprisingly quiet compared to that on the machine it replaced, and I like that there are a few options for extra rinses. Every few months, it'll signal that the drum needs cleaning, and at that time, I'll also clean the drain filter on it, which takes about 5 minutes, tops (access panel is right on the front of the machine).”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? “LG 100%, had one for about 18 years until i finally decided to buy a new LG washer in 2024, best one in reliability so far, and during the 18 years i only had maintenance twice. In my grandmas house she also had an lg that lasted around 16-17 years and same for my other grandmas house and is still working perfectly to this day. They are probably the best with one of the best reliability rate while having smart features such as ThinQ, AIDD, etc, while also being cheaper than brands such as Miele.”From thread: What brand is actually worth it? “I had that almost that exact LG set, though maybe mine were slightly older, from when I bought them new in 2017 until I sold them with my house in 2024. The only reason I didn’t bring them to my new house is that my new house only has space for a stacked set. I never had a single mechanical issue with either one. Never needed a service call. Never any odor. They always got our clothes clean and dry. My only complaint is that the washer tended to tangle up clothes. It was especially bad with bedding. Many times I would have to go stop the washer and try to untangle/unwad blankets or sheets because it wound them into a ball or got off balance. That was pretty annoying. But thankfully I wasn’t washing bedding every day. But that annoyance aside, it really was a great worry-free set that we were quite happy with for the 7+ years we had them. That said, I don’t think they have sold that set for quite some time now (2018?), so they are probably getting up in age for appliances these days. It might be one reason to keep the Whirlpool set if it is much newer. Who really knows though.”From thread: LG or Whirlpool washer and dryer? Moving houses, which do I keep? ↗
“We bought our house in 2018. I think the LG washer and dryer are from 2014. No issues. I like the Whirlpool brand family for dishwashers (Maytag) and LG for laundry. My stepmom's LG washer and dryer are 20 yrs old+ and still running.”From thread: LG or Whirlpool washer and dryer? Moving houses, which do I keep? ↗
“Bring the old set with you and put them in the garage or someplace for a time while you try out the set that’s already in the new house. If you like the new set then you can sell the others. I have heard LG makes great washers and dryers and if it’s a bit older that is actually better.”From thread: LG or Whirlpool washer and dryer? Moving houses, which do I keep? ↗

“Not a long term appliance repairman (like a year), but I have too many new Samsungs to have control board issues and this GE combo requiring to completely take it apart to clean, since lint gets stuck inside. Not many issues with LG though, typically a $10 engine sensor on washers and thermal fuses on dryer”From thread: Anyone have long term experience with these all in one washer dryers? ↗
“My biggest concern with reading about the Samsung one was how hard it was to get service on them if they have to warranty out. I found so many reviews talking about that and the limbo hell Samsung puts you in since they rely on third party techs compared LG and GE using their own. I see a lot of reviews talking about how good drying is, but it seems like most of them are written at the beginning when people get the machine. I don’t care about drying performance as long as they aren’t vastly different between them. I care about the longevity of the drying system itself”From thread: Anyone have long term experience with these all in one washer dryers? ↗

“Man looking at GE units, I’ve heard the microban is just all marketing have no clue if that’s the case or not. After even more searching if you have the money for it get a speed queen, if I had the budget I’d for sure get one of the higher end LG machines or speed queen. Are you looking at top load or I’m assuming front load?”From thread: What are your opinions on GE washer? ↗
“I guess the good news is that your washer broke down during the Christmas sales season! I get money is an issue. I think you might be better served by checking out a local used appliance store for a direct drive whirlpool or similar. If you need something new, would you be able to stretch to something like an LG front loader? I see models on sale at my local box stores for about $700. Subjectively I expect it would be a much better machine. If I was in your shoes, wanted something new, and cold swing it I would do that. I haven't had that particular GE, but I've been burnt lately on cheap, plastic-guts top loaders.”From thread: What are your opinions on GE washer? ↗

“Saw this online... Speed Queen front loading machine is quiet and efficient, leaving clothes clean and well-rinsed. However, in a comparison with the LG WM3900H front-loader, the Speed Queen TC5 was rougher on fabric and had a higher service rate, making it the most repair-prone brand sold by Yale Appliance.”From thread: What are your opinions on GE washer? ↗

“My LG one is great!”From thread: What is the actual deal with the GE Profile washer/dryer combo? So so many conflicting reviews. ↗
“Fair enough. However, LG makes very reliable washers and dryers. Besides, fixing a washing machine on your own is not only super simple, but cheap too. Washing machines are not very complex. There are not many components and they are easy to access for replacement. I know those old Maytags are built to last, but that thing HAS lasted. It is a matter of time before something breaks. From my experience with my 80’s set, the arms that held the drum (front loader) eventually cracked, and was not worth the time nor the money to repair since it is one big assembly. Structural repairs are a no go. Replacing a pump, valve or board… super easy.”From thread: Maytag washer and dryer worth it to buy? ↗

“I just returned a Maytag front load set to Costco after three months of just weird stuff. The electronics are just a bad UI, slow etc. Also my washer would get unbalanced if you looked at it wrong and get stuck in an endless rinse loop. I went back to LG. If I were to do a top loader there is still a Maytag Commercial one that is made on a special line, GE also makes one as well. Speed Queen seems nice but is so pricey.”From thread: Am I making a mistake of buying Maytag Washer Dryer set? ↗
“On my Maytag dryer, I add to replace the heating element. Something that I changed in the past on other units: remove 4 screws at the back, get access to the heating element, install new part, done in 20 minutes. But on my Maytag, there's no access panel at the back. We had to remove the top, open the front, etc. The unit was basically all disassembled. Definitely not for the DIY! I search on YouTube and many modern units are still built with the typical rear access panel, but not this one. Similarly, I have a clogged water inlet screen on the Maytag washing machine. On some other brands (like LG), you simply remove the dirty plastic screen and install a new one (a 5$ part and a 5 minutes job). On my Maytag, nope. You need to open the whole unit and replace the entire water inlet valve, which is a much bigger job.”From thread: Am I making a mistake of buying Maytag Washer Dryer set? ↗
“How much laundry are you doing? If you aren’t going with a speed queen, you should be looking at a front loader tbh. Also avoid big box and buy from an independent store that services the appliances in house. These are maytags entry level machines. They are garbage for lack of a better term. You would do well to spend an extra hundred bucks and get LGs entry level front loaders. Just keep the seal gasket clean and the washer door cracked after use”From thread: Should I get these Maytag washer and dryer ↗
“I bought my LG from Costco which I highly recommend as someone else pointed out. In addition, someone else pointed out Electrolux which I also read good reliability reviews about. The reason I went with the LG is because it’s easier and cheaper to get parts for them if you live in the USA if needed.”From thread: Should I get these Maytag washer and dryer ↗
“Buy yourself a new or used Speed Queen washer. The washer that your showing is crap. The dryer is good. If you can't afford a new Speed Queen, then look on Craigslist or FB marketplace for a used/refurbished/scratch-and-dent. You may have to expand the search to include the nearest large city. If you really want new, then buy this dryer but change the washer to the cheapest LG front loader.”From thread: Should I get these Maytag washer and dryer ↗

“I have a 1 year sold set of Maytag front loaders that I absolutely hate. That being said, I had a set of Maytag front loaders that I purchased in 2015 and they were great! My mom still uses them. My 2 complaints are time- 1-3 hours to wash. The mode selection. Changes. Are all slow like the processor is over loaded or something. I had the LG Mega from Costco and they gave me no issues- they were sold with the house”From thread: Should I get these Maytag washer and dryer ↗
“I just bought a new LG washer and dryer from Costco to replace our 25 year old set. “LG is actually the second most reliable brand behind speed queen (expensive) when it comes to appliance repair technicians ratings. I recently got an lg and it’s been great. I bought a set of Maytag washer and dryers in 2016 and had constant control board failures costing $250 each time. Replaced the washer after the third failure in 3 years. LG is essentially the best brand of sub $1,000 washing machines and dryers don’t really matter as much as they’re not as complicated as washers. Samsung is trash and LG is trash for every appliance except washers and dryers where they are actually one of the best.”From thread: Should I get these Maytag washer and dryer ↗
“Rinsing performance is a weak point on those Maytags, besides not getting stains out, soap not fully rinsing is the second most complained issue. I can see why; the spray rinse is anemic at best, and the wash action is very weak as well. ironically LG has one of the better approval ratings for cleaning performance so far. I've only gotten a couple complaints by comparison to the multiple for the Maytag/Whirlpool models. Do you have hard water by chance? That seems to make machines of almost any brand struggle.”From thread: Maytag washer reviews? ↗
“Nonsense. Their direct drive FL platform is still objectively one of the best designs on the market, and the least likely to need a major repair in the first year - almost 3x less likely than WhirlPoop's cost-cut VMW trash-loaders in my experience. 😂”From thread: Maytag washer reviews? ↗
“I get nothing but complaints about top load Maytags immediately after the purchase!! From wash settings, wash not cleaning and issues all in the first year. I personally would buy a Whirlpool over a Maytag- but I would definitely consider LG top loaders.”From thread: Maytag washer reviews? ↗
“Electrolux is going to be the best wash quality, LG the most dependable.”From thread: Electrolux Front Load Washers? ↗
“I had two electrolux's, one from 2017 which worked perfectly for 3 years until i moved and left it behind (im assuming it's still working fine for the new owners), and when we got another electrolux in 2021, that one ran perfect for 1.5 years until the rubber gasket started leaking and it was going to be a $400-500 to replace the gasket. I went with LG and want something more reliable because these machines aren't cheap when it comes to repairs.”From thread: Electrolux Front Load Washers? ↗
“I have ruled out Speed Queen, but I am also planning to replace my decade old LG front loader set with another LG front loader set. The only other set I am looking at is Electrolux. They are not rated as highly as LG on Consumer Reports, but they are now Wirecutter's second choice after LG. My local appliance store recommended an Electrolux set, which is now on my radar. Because I already have pedestals, I think I will end up with LG though.”From thread: Electrolux Front Load Washers? ↗
“As far as features… best feature line up on the market. Smartboost pull detergent in and premixes it with water, which allows for faster wash cycles, no soap stains. as well as reduces the need for bleach to keep whites white (thus the Broght Whites cycle). BalancedDry is an actual humidity sensor… almost every other auto cycle on the market is determined by a touch sensor which activates cooldown as soon as a dry piece of fabric hits it… so mixed loads end up wet. Pod buster in the dispense tray. And I really like their solution to keep the washer door open, which is that you just can’t close it unless you intentionally do so. I wish it had an auto dispense for detergent… but outside of that its feature are top notch. LG is top for residential front loaders for longevity. I just can’t really call the Speed Queen front loaders residential machines… they are not. 25lb capacity (officially a bit less than that at 22 I think but it’s the same machine as discussed later so… ) while everything else in the market maxes out at 18 lbs. They are ugly laundrymat machines that you happen to be able to put in your home. Alliance lightet use commercial machines are the identical machines to the residential front loaders inside (25 lb) - same exact parts as the true commercialism until. Speed Queen stuff is, by far and away, the best stuff built on the market as far as toughness… But honestly, most people really don’t need that. But if you were going to start doing like laundry service for someone… it is the only option before spending x2.”From thread: Electrolux Front Load Washers? ↗
“For a washer I'd say yes...but for a dryer no. You don't need to spend the extra money. We had a LG dryer give us 10+ years of service, with only minor service.”From thread: Is Speed Queen still a good choice? ↗
“Agree with this assessment. We have them in my condo (shared laundry) where I live part time. Very hard on the clothes and my kids clothes just do not get clean. At my other place we have a front load LG and it’s fantastic. We’ve had it for about 8 years now, knock wood no issues. Even at our vacation home we put a cheap no name washer/dryer bc renters are hard on everything, and it still washes better than the SQ.”From thread: Is Speed Queen still a good choice? ↗

“Just replaced my LG Trom front load after 17 years of hard use. (Family of 5.) It left our house still in working condition. The metal frame was starting to rust around the dispenser tray and it was just getting long in the tooth and tub washes only go so far after that many years. I obviously replaced it with another LG. 5.5cf top loader. So far, so awesome. PS. I have HARD well water that is slight acidic and wrecks havoc on our plumbing and fixtures etc. It lived with that for 17 years with no issues. No one!”From thread: Is Speed Queen still a good choice? ↗
“We went from a top loader to a front loader LG and it isn't nearly as hard on clothes. That top loader used to get ahold of my coveralls and trash them. Also, that LG front loader had been through hell and back for over 10 years now. It works like new, has never caused a single problem. 10/10, would buy again. Also, the water savings isn't just water costs. It's HEATING the water. So depending on your water heating costs there are other factors in efficiency that negate the savings. Some people can wash in cold water. I'm a filthy animal and my trades clothes need warm or hot to remove the oils and filth. Plus I find my shirts stink faster with cold water washes. It doesn't kill off all the bacteria. Wash in hot and I can run a shirt a second day with zero odours.”From thread: Are Speed Queens actually good washer/dryers ↗
“We had a new Maytag when married, it lasted 22 years, then we got a kenmore front load set, the dryer started a small fire on the circuit board, tossed it, kept the washer outside to wash carharts and rags and rugs for years. “Speed Queen dryers are no-way worth the premium. We bought a DR300WE to replace our LG after it's main control board failed. The LG lasted 10+ yrs with minimum maintenance The DR3 cost a $1000, it lacks a Pause,Stop button, end of cycle alert...now it doesn't work correctly in auto dry mode. “Steer well clear if I were you! My parents have had Miele washing machines and separate driers for over 40yrs. They USED to be the 'Rolls Royce' but NOT anymore! The washing machine packed up after less than 2 yrs and the new air pump drier has got to be the most expensive white elephant that my parents have ever bought! They have had it for about a year and it is next to useless! We replaced the washing machine with an LG Washer/Drier last year and are seriously considering replacing the 12 month old 'white elephant' with a 2nd LG washer drier.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗
“I'm willing to pay for longevity, and I do not want flashy features, don't need my laundry machine to be "smart" or AI or wi fi or connected to an app or anything. The problem is it is hard to know what is going to have longevity. Miele seems to have a good reputation on the one hand, on the other, recent reports of decline in quality. LG seems to have a good rep for the washing machines reliability also, at a much lower price.”From thread: Honest opinion - are current Miele washing machines & dryers better than the rest? ↗

“I was looking at getting a Miele (or Bosch), but they have one drawback for a family: the SpeedQueen has a much larger capacity then the Miele. The SpeedQueen can handle a lot more laundry per load than the Miele. I prefer a front load as they use less water and are gentler on clothes, so I got the LG that CR/Wirecutter recommends for this one reason.”From thread: Miele or SpeedQueen washer/dryer? ↗
“We are on water catchment and landed up going with LG and it still gets our farm clothing clean just fine. Major caveats - the most important thing is to not overload! Even with a fancy Miele, heavily stained clothing needs more room to tumble around. You will need to clean your sump more than normal folks do, make sure you can reach it. Also remember to run the washer clean setting now and then - I run ours every time I wash the cat's blankets (our barncats are spoiled buggers - they have a heated catbed with a blanket on it to keep the case cleaner and a cheap fleece blanket on a chair they like to snooze on. I refold a couple times as it looks grungy, but eventually it just needs a wash). We also wipe the door seal after each load - just a quick swipe nothing crazy. Hair really likes to collect in them. We have a washer-dryer combo and love it, but families often don't care for them. I like that I put clothing in, press some buttons, and it'll do the wash and dry without me needing to move things over. When it's done, it's done. They are smaller capacity though and take a long time to do a load compared to things like SpeedQueens so the trade-off is that I have to do more loads. Don't beat my clothing up near as bad though and use a crazy lot less water! If you are rural, I'd look up specifically how easy they are to order your own parts and user service. I live on a small island, so that was a major consideration for us. We did something dumb to the gasket once (don't stick a screwdriver into the drain holes to get that bit of lint at least grab the damn pliers or maybe the tweezers that are in the washroom five feet away) and it was super easy to order in a new one online and install it ourselves. If the LED display fails, that's also easy to repair on our model (this may be easier if you have worked with electronics before admittedly, but a confident beginner could totally follow along on a YouTube video I think).”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“We used them for three months while staying with family because of a kitchen reno, and they did beat our clothes to crap. Some old t-shirts that were slowly getting worn down, and multiple sweaters (washed on delicate and cold water etc) got holes the very first wash, where I previously had no problem machine washing them. So we ended up going with a pair of well reviewed LGs that I love so far. Yeah I know this is bifl and people hate them over here. I’m sure they won’t last 20 years, specially not without needing repairs. But we couldn’t afford Miele (and as a family of five I had my doubts the size was enough), so that’s what we went with. I’d rather have my jeans last 5 years longer than they would otherwise.”From thread: Miele Washing Machine and Dryers for heavy soiled clothing. Pros? Cons? ↗
“A manufacturer sales and fulfillment doesn’t speak for the quality of the products. Having said that I do agree that LG fulfillment is not great if there’s problems with the order. I bought a Range hood directly from LG and they sold me installation for $200. When they delivery arrived the young guys who delivered it said “we have never installed a hood before “. So I sent them home and installed it myself. Took 1.5 months to get my $200 back. But I’m very happy with the quality of the appliances I have. Every appliance I have is LG. “So, my 20+ year old Maytag washing machine completely lost her mind and time came to find a substitute. I was looking into LG line and after some research and hesitation I settled on LG WM5800. I also considered LG 6998 which is all-in-one combo unit with heat pump. But considering the price difference ($2099 for combo, $949 for washer), mixed reviews for combo and that my 20+ year old dryer is still alive and well, I went out to buy the washer, WM5800HAA it is. After checking the price at BestBuy, HomeDepot, Lowes and local appliance retailer where price was pretty much the same, I checked with Costco and... Costco has online that same combo WM6998 at $999.99 almost the same price as separate washer WM5800! Should I go for combo at this price? Most complaints about combo were on dryer behalf. If that will be the case I still have my old dryer, and I paid for the combo as much as washer itself. Want to hear your thoughts.”From thread: LG washer and dryer ↗

“We’ve had ours for two years. We want to buy another for our master bath! We love it. Our stuff doesn’t come out damp. It may be cold but that’s not dampness. Make sure you are taking it out when it’s done and don’t leave things in there. Try smaller loads if it’s truly damp. We can wash an entire bedding set after a kid is sick at night and have no problems. We toss in 1/3 of a hamper of clothes which is about a week of clothes. You also need a balanced load or it won’t dry right. ETA: 5-6 hours is way too long. 2.5-3 hours is our average.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“We have one of those and love it. Most of the time there are no issues. Dries within a reasonable amount of time, the whole cycle can take 2.5 to 3 hours for the heavier stuff, towels etc. My wife likes to wash the comforter in there, and it's extremely bulky and she shouldn't be doing that. It struggles mightily with it, drum goes off balance and won't spin after wash. I keep telling her not to put in there, but ya know. That's my real only issue with it, but probably most washer dryers would have trouble with something so bulky. Maintenance is key like what's been already stated. Also there is one issue that's come up that I'll have to monitor, the round display screen will go blank or have bars across it, and I've been able to get it back to normal by flipping the breaker off and back on. Something to watch, but otherwise it's been great, one unit more room in our small laundry room. If I had more room however and kids, I think I'd look into getting 2 of them to do 2 loads all washed and dried at the same time. “Make sure you have the newest lint assembly. When you pull the lint filter out, there should be another filter to the right in there that further protects the coil from lint buildup. If you have that secondary filter, pull it out, clean it, and then look into the hole and make sure the fins of the coil do not have any lint buildup. I had no idea that could be a problem, and it made me hate my machine until I knew they needed to be cleaned regularly. That is until I got the updated double lint filter assembly. Seriously, I went from always disappointed with the same perception of the machine that you seem to have to having it work flawlessly 100% of the time no matter how large the load If you do not have the second filter, call LG and they will send a new primary and secondary filter for free: 18002430000. Get it, clean your coil, and install it. Changed everything for me One more thing: I have to clean the drain filter pretty often. Every 20 loads or so. More than a typical washer because of the drying and additional lint that makes. https://youtu.be/wLAUQklHbvM”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“I have the same model. Does yours have the magnetic condenser filter? Mine did not and it quickly became clogged and useless. It was by the grace of God I scanned the manual QR code one day and saw that LG had issued a revision the month after we bought ours (Jan '25). They sent us the upgrade for free and it's been working much better since we cleaned the condenser and installed the filter. I will echo others' comments about keeping the lint trap and drain filter clean. It's way more important on this type of machine than a traditional washer and dryer. Good luck!”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“I installed one of these this year, and love it. You put your load in, and 2 or 3 hours later it's done and there's no fuss. It replaced a washer and dryer in our small utility room, and made space for an upright freezer. Yes, sometimes it's annoying that you can't just dry a load in 20 minutes and take out your hot jeans and burn some rivets into your waist. It takes a lot longer to dry than a conventional dryer, but it uses a lot less energy. Upside- Saves space, Saves fussing with two loads, No worries about the dryer discharge duct, Much cheaper to run, Very quiet, Produces a significantly smaller amount of lint (which I think is an underrated and underreported feature- your clothes will last a lot longer when you aren't squirting lint outside the building. I mean, sometimes the amount of lint it filters out is about a tablespoon). Downside- Takes longer to dry, Expensive (I paid $1700), Probably not appropriate for a large and/or filthy family. This technology is completely baked, and I'm not going back. But it may not be for you.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“Absolutely do not open the unit and allow it to air dry out. Use the dry cycle immediately after the wash cycle. The unit leverages the residual heat from the wash cycle to speed up the drying process. Perhaps on the older design it was advisable to open the unit but no longer. Also be certain that after every single load you empty the lint trap on the top of the unit. Once a week, wash it under running water in the sink then allow it to air dry. And wipe the boot/gasket that seals the door to the drum. The boot grabs and holds lint. There's a hole at the bottom of the boot where water drains out, if that clogs it's impossible to dry clothes normally. If you still have issues, call out LG they can fix it. We had this issue and they gave us a kit that modifies the lint trap to add a couple of additional lint filters. And gave instructions on removing lint from the tube that feeds air into the lint trap.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“I’ve also been using it for the last 5 years. I would think OP is overloading but as you said some folks probably are treating it like the washing machines of old and putting too much in. Some folks that use this so seem to forget that this unit runs off of 120 V tech vs the 220 V or so in Europe that these are based off of, so not only is the drying tech different than standard dryers the voltage is much lower on a similar amperage so the overall drying power is less. We went through a period where it didn’t look to be drying as well as normal which could’ve happening but our unit is 5 years old, though it managed to resolve itself. We just have the wash/dry auto cycle though, none of this AI business.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“Been using this machine for the last 6 months. And loving it… Energy/electrical usage is Pennies. Clothes come out clean and dry. I basically just do auto/AI wash and dry every time. Yes drying takes a bit of time … a full wash/dry cycle is usually 3-3.5hr but that’s never been an issue… make sure you’re not overloading the tub if your clothes are coming out still damp. It shouldn’t be more than 60-70% full, ideally even less. 6hr48 min for a cycle is wild. I’ve never had a cycle take that long lol”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗

“We have the LG at a home in AZ. Perfect for 1-2 people & the heat pump works great. You have to understand that keeping the lint trap, and gusset around door impeccably clean at all times. Cotton items on ai come out initially feeling weirdly slightly damp from the heat pump drying, but are actually dry. Our technical clothes (workout, leggings) are perfectly dry. We also own the Samsung version (uses 240v & requires venting) in a humid northern home. Again, on ai it works great, and you have to be meticulous about cleaning the machine after every load. The only difference is the heat pump is better in arid, dry environments and the Samsung is better in the humid environment. If you have more than 1-2 people then you would need multiple machines. Love/obsessed with not “switching loads”, the efficiency with water & electricity. But people need to do their homework about these machines, understand their own household needs before buying either machine. Don’t buy either of these machines-If you are a lazy lint trap cleaner, usually overload a washing machine, don’t mind hanging around to switch loads, have a large household/renters, and have a gas line with vent to exterior, I would just buy a standard washer/dryer set.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗

“Are you cleaning the lint filters? There's two of them in the top. Clean the large one after every wash and dry. The small one, wipe the outside after every dry. The inside of it after every 5 dries, it comes out, open it up. Are you doing this? If you don't have the smaller filter, you have an old model. LG will send you this for free. “I just sold my LG front loaders with a house and miss them. They spent 5 years in a salon washing towels and five at home. Perfect operation. Only issue was that the front panel text is a little hard to read. No biggie. I sold appliances back when I got these. LG was the only manufacturer vinyl dipping their boards back then to ensure isolation from moisture. Might explain the reliability. No odor ever. No mildew. Like I said, zero problems. If you want a fast cycle, it's available. Otherwise embrace the slow gentle cycles that are far better for your clothes and clean extraordinarily well with cold. I always use the extra rinse too as detergent residue gives me dermatitis. I have some Maytag front loaders now that are five years old and to be fair they've been wonderful, except for the gasket mildew issue. Gotta wipe them after each load and the problem is eliminated. “Does the new vented Samsung wash combo have to be cleaned as meticulously as the ventless versions of the combo? I actually have the ventless LG. I’ve had it for one and a half years and so far I’ve had no problem with it. But I am meticulous about keeping the lint filters clean, including washing and scrubbing the removable filters fairly regularly. I initially bought the GE ventless, but it was a pain to keep that lint filter clean so I traded it for the LG. I’ve been thinking about getting a combo for my kids upstairs as they rarely remember to move the clothes. But my concern is that kids would struggle to remember to keep the filters as clean as I do. I’ve been thinking about getting them a Samsung vented combo, but I’m not seeing any reviews about what the upkeep is compared to the ventless. I also like that if the Samsung vented works well but we need to double the combo capacity, I can put the matching Samsung ventless combo in the washing machine’s space Granted with the vented dyers, not cleaning the dryer vent is a fire hazard. But I get the dryer vents in the house cleaned fairly regularly to prevent those issues. The thing about standard vented dryers is that the components are pretty simple, with inexpensive coils and belts being the items that need to be replaced most often. I just don’t know if the Samsung ventless shares those characteristics, including having a fairly simple venting system that doesn’t require you to regularly take extraordinary measures to get it really clean.”From thread: What is the best, all one washer dryer/combo unit to buy in 2025. ↗

We got it because we are horrible about remembering to switch the loads from the washer to the dryer, and our new house had a terribly small washer/dryer setup. It takes up the space of a large front load washer, it’s just a bit wider and taller than the washer it is replacing. So far so good with the new Washer/dryer combo otherwise, I think it does take a little longer to dry certain loads (seems like 20-30 minutes longer dry time so far), but we don’t have to remember to switch the loads which is nice. They tried to tell me that they needed a tech to come look at it and confirm that the machine was defective. They then called back to let me know they don't actually have any techs in my area. I sent photos of the machine, they sent me a refund. I bought a new LG washer and dryer from Costco with the refund and had them haul the Samsung unit away.”From thread: What is the best, all one washer dryer/combo unit to buy in 2025. ↗
“We have the same…. Samsung for 13 years. Only one problem we had this year. Clothes were not drying and called a repair person. What we learned is that the tube that connects to the vent inside the dryer body became disconnected, likely years ago when we moved it. The entire cavity was filled with lint and a definite eminent fire hazard. Not a problem with the appliance. Working great ever since. We use powdered detergent and no fabric softener. I think liquid detergent causes stink.”From thread: What is the best, all one washer dryer/combo unit to buy in 2025. ↗

It has been good so far; we had an issue where the filter housing broke and got stuck in the machine, but LG said it was a known issue and immediately shipped us a new filter housing that fixed the problem. I was surprised by how good their customer support is - they gave us a direct number to text for updates and any queries in the future.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? “I've had an LG all in one (not the heat pump version) for five years and it rules. Sure, it takes three hours to wash and dry a load of bedsheets but who cares? I can throw in a load of laundry and come back to it in three hours, three days or whenever I remember. The concept of laundry day doesn't exist in my house anymore, it's literally whenever you remember just pop a load in and come back to it when you remember again. And there's no lint trap or dryer vent to maintain (only the same pump filter as any front load) and it's not constantly exhausting conditioned air out of my house when it's operating. It just condenses the water from the clothes and sends it down the drain. It also only needs a 120v plug (hence the longer dry time, it's working with half the electricity) and consequently runs on a lower temperature so it doesn't cook the clothes as much as a conventional dryer. ALSO since you're regularly completely drying it out, it doesn't have the mold problems that most front loaders do.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? “Discounts just increased for the LG WashCombo. It'll take some adjustment to get used to how the heat pump drying works instead of baking clothes, but I believe with discounts the price is now just under $2k which may actually make it cheaper than some sets. Definitely cheaper over time if you factor in the lifestyle enhancement of being able to put a load of clothes in before going to bed and waking up to them being dry. Washer maintenence review suggested the extended warranty because the heat pump is a new design, but the washer system is proven technology with LG's ten year warranty on the motor. Also suggested a pedestal because of the location of the filters that need changed. It additionally sprays jets into the clothes which is an enhancement to cleaning over them just rubbing against each other.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? “It is unreal how low quality these products are now. They are expensive, large, hard to move, and in the case of a refrigerator or freezer will destroy hundreds of dollars worth of food when they break down. I perceive that companies have stopped spending enough on quality control. So they incorporate components that break well before the expected lifespan of the same product with all high quality components. And as a consumer it's just a gamble on buying one. I'm not sure what else to do besides play "new appliance roulette" and then if you have one that lasts more than a few years do everything possible to keep it running. I'm willing and able to make extensive and complex repairs. But sometimes diagnosis is extremely difficult. And often parts (like electronics control boards) are a substantial portion of a new appliance. So it's very hard to justify parts replacement if I'm not 100% sure what part is at fault. In terms of washers the internet/consumer reports consensus is LG is the most reliable normal consumer brand. Speed queen is supposedly even better. I recently got a whirlpool front loader when my old washer died. I chose whirlpool because a local repairman recommended it. I'll see how that goes.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? Are all brands just terrible? ↗
“I just got an LG 6500hba(?) washer. So far so good but it’s only been a few weeks so that’s not proof of much. I’ve noticed this time around that 1 year warranties seem to be the standard now which I interpret as the manufacturer expecting shit not to last significantly longer than a year or two before something is needed. I expect a a few years without much trouble, maybe a semi-major expense within 3-5 years, and probably replacement after 5-10 years. Maybe I’ll be surprised one way or another… Appliances seem to suck now and I’ve adjusted my expectations and spending accordingly. Certainly never dropping $3k on a fridge again.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? Are all brands just terrible? ↗

“I’ve had this machine for about three months now and it’s awesome. It’s just me doing laundry so I don’t have back to back loads like some families do, so you would lose time not being able to start a new wash while the first load is drying, but overall time from starting the wash to the clothes being dry is about the same as a normal washer and dryer. However, when I lived with my married friends who had two kids more often than not. A load would finish in the wash and then sit there for hours or even days sometimes. So having the was automatically dry would have saved them a lot of time. My recommendation for families would be to get this machine and use it as the primary washer and dryer, but also have another dryer for when multiple loads need to go back to back. Start a load in the washer, but also set it to start drying, so even if you take 15 minutes to put it in the other dryer, that’s 15 minutes the clothes have already spent drying. On top of that, you never have to worry about clothes being left wet in the wash. The other benefit of this machine is the liquid detergent reservoirs. If you don’t use fabric softener you can convert that tank into detergent and then you have about a half gallon tank full of detergent so you don’t have to put it in for every load.”From thread: What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? “Unfortunately all the brands have issues because of quality control and cheap parts worldwide. If you’re on a budget m, stay within your budget and write down the cycles you absolutely must have. For the most part m, entry level models seem to last longer because they don’t have Wi-Fi connection nor expensive/fancy motherboards and features that can go bad in the near future. One suggestion is to plug the appliances into a power strip and plug that into a power surge protector. Turn off machine at the power strip when not in use. This helps if you have lightning and power outages in your area. LG‘s entry-level front loaders seem to have good reviews but some people have also got gotten lemons. “Bought my LG about 6 years ago. After using it, my daughter bought one. Then a neighbor. They are a difference experience, but I’ll not go back. Imagine thinking it was normal to have a dishwasher set that required moving clean & wet to the drying unit. Since changing, the two unit w/d seems wildly illogical, to me. Time consuming? Yes. And one day it’ll be a normal routine and you won’t think twice about it. Clothes damp? Yep. Give them a shake, hang them up or set them for the couple minutes it takes to unload, then do your folding. Or have a drying rack to briefly hang things (or not so briefly). The energy efficiency can’t be beat. Some of us care a lot about that. Those who offer advice based on what they have read without actual experience caused me a lot of anxiety before taking the leap. The cycle takes a long time, but it had a timer, so I could throw in a load in the morning and have the cycle just finishing when I got home. The clothes came out kinda like steam-damp, but the extra moisture evaporated very quickly. There weren’t any set-in wrinkles either, because I could smooth them out while that last bit of moisture evaporated. I definitely had to change my laundry habits from “big batch” to “continuous” though. However, I’ve heard (from someone who does big household appliance maintenance) that they’re kind of a maintenance nightmare, so I dunno if there are any that could approach BIFL status. “Absolutely great response about the Speed Queen. I have a Speed Queen top loader out in the shop. It does a phenomenal job at cleaning clothes. But, with a maximum fill and an extra rinse it uses 60 gallons of water. It does a fantastic job at cleaning. However, it will absolutely tear up your clothes over time. I would never use it as an everyday washing machine. In fact, the reason I have one is because it was my mom's. She complained that it was hard on her clothes. I put it out in the shop and bought her a new Speed Queen front loader. However, I wouldn't buy the Speed Queen front loader today as the new ones no longer have a built-in heater. “LG makes great machines. Especially front loaders. They wash well, gently, and spin very fast. They aren't likely to give you trouble during their usual 10 year lifespan, but repairs/parts are often more complicated. Speed queen is rated to last 25 years and are built to be repaired and maintained. They are generally pretty rough on your clothing and do not spin as fast. This means you spend more time in the dryer, more energy expended, and your fabrics take some additional heat damage. “As a repair tech I recommend LG, Electrolux & Speed Queen as the top 3, not necessarily in that order. If we’re talking top load, the speed queen wins hands down, it will last twice as long as the LG. The main complaint on top load speed queens is the noise, and small tub. Speed queens are the most service able laundry out here in my opinion. General advice to prolong the life of washer: Let the machine cool down for 20-30 min between loads. Run a clean cycle and clean the filter once per month. Don’t use liquid fabric softener. Wipe the door seal dry after use and leave the door open between washes. I’m hoping to get 8-10 years out of them 🤞🏾”From thread: What is the best Washer and Dryer now to consider for purchase? ↗

“I clean homes and wash my clients’ laundry for a living. Been at it for about 15 years now. LG’s have always impressed me the most for their cleaning performance. I also have clients with LG washers that are approaching 20 years old without any problems. I have seen one LG that bit the bullet at 11 years because the control panel gave up. A Speed Queen does an OK job, but I have not understood what all the fuss is about - and Consumer Reports supports that as well. GE washes fine. Maytags and Whirlpools do a fair cleaning, but I’ve seen plenty of them die by around 10 years. The only machines I would strongly discourage are Samsung. I have seen so many of my clients’ Samsung washers and dryers break, the washers also are bad at time management (keep taking far more time than initially shown on the screen), the dryers take forever, and the cleaning isn’t all that great.”From thread: What is the best Washer and Dryer now to consider for purchase? ↗

“Agree with everything you said except that an LG front loader can easily last more than 10 years for a family. I was on year 15 for my first when I sold it used to get a bigger one. Otherwise I might have given it to my oldest kid after they moved out. Multiple family members have them too because they are always at the top on Consumer Reports. No problems. The only family member with issues is the one that insists on getting top loaders. Her family is on their third after the first two had problems. The washer used a good amount of water and multiple different types of wash motions to clean the clothes very well. We're chefs and have all types of stains and dirt on our chef whites. “So, this may be moot in your situation, but I present this: Spend an extra few hundred dollars now, buy a Speed Queen, use it for the next 15-20 years. Buy a GE or Whirlpool (Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Consul), and spend a couple hundred on service calls every other year for the 5 or 6 years it works. Buy a LG or Samsung for even cheaper, and put it on the curb in three years. That's a generalization, of course, but it's fairly accurate. GE, Kenmore, Maytag...twenty years ago these were premium American made brands. This is no longer the case.”From thread: What are your opinions on GE washer? ↗

“Appliance tech here. Electrolux have finicky conveyors for there soap dispensers I have replaced two conveyors within two months on two different models of Electrolux washers. They really don’t like hard water. They are also really picky about what kind of soap you use and require “clean washer” cycles to function properly. Also there control boards have been crapping out recently. Speed queens are the best they function great and are easy to repair if they do malfunction. LG is straight crap, they had a design flaw with there washer pumps and never acknowledged it, you will continue to have problems with any LG washer regardless if you replace the pump. “Don’t get a top load!!! I’m used to front load washers but decided on a top load due to mildew growing on the ring of my front load… well, I’ll take that and spend extra money every month buying the cleaning pods than the top load maintenance plus poor washing cycles. I HATE IT! plus customer service is NOT good at all they are all bots from India with an script that doesn’t actually help… basically if you get a bad machine you have to keep it. My recommendation yes, you can buy LG but from a third party such as home depot Lowe’s etc not directly to their page because of anything the third party would hep, LG doesn’t. Also, I’d recommend a front loader 10000% it would clean your clothes much better”From thread: LG washer and dryer ↗
“I will never buy LG again. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They damaged the box in delivery, never told me this happend and it wasn't coming for Christmas, held my money for 5 months. All while promising I WOULD receive the washer and dryer if I just waited. Then they cancelled the order without telling me. They refused to honor their Black Friday deal and sell them to me for that price in the future. At no point in this whole ordeal did they ever call me to let me know anything. They dont answer emails. The company has no ethics. No soul. Do you think they would stand behind their product? Good luck. I have 2 LG TV's and a Refrigerator. I really wanted the heat pump dryer and a washer. I will never purchase another LG product in my life and I would like to warn as many people as I can reach.”From thread: LG washer and dryer ↗
“I have two of these, one broke after two weeks the other one has been great. I really wish that I wasn’t now nine months in to trying to get LG to refund me replace or fix my machine, but they are a completely useless company. If they had done that I would easily be able to tell people that this unit when properly used is probably the best appliance you will have. Unfortunately, you must pray that you never have to deal with LG. Their customer service their presidential liaisons or anybody there at all because they are not there to help you. They will do everything they can to inconvenience you. This is my experience after spending now over 46 hours on the phone with them trying to get my unit fixed they say that you have the option to have an arbitration process you don’t they will not respond to documents even when sent by registered mail. Now, hopefully to help you out, make sure that you clean the top filters out after every single cycle use the little brush to make sure that there is good airflow in the smaller side filter that goes to the condenser coils. Make sure that entire compartment on top of the machine is clean because what happens is water and lint goes up there and then any leftover water will go down through that hole in the top left and go to the drain. You don’t want that drain getting clogged otherwise your water has nowhere to go. Now the lower filter, the water filter on the bottom left of the dryer we clean ours every Sunday. If we do a lot of laundry, we will clean it a lot more frequently. If you haven’t cleaned that out yet open that little compartment to pull out the hose and drain that too a low rimmed container once the water stops running then you can slide a little dish cloth underneath your washer dryer so that when you unscrew the filter, any water that is still in there will drip down onto your clock and not onto your floor. Take that filter out get all of the grime and lint that has made it there get it out of there if you need to wipe that compartment out with your hand, then put it all back together. Make sure you put the plug on the little hose. Otherwise water is just gonna shoot out of there. Now inside the unit itself, use a damp cloth pretty much after every load on your rubber seals and look for any of the drain holes on there. There’s some at the bottom and some at the side. Make sure that you are getting all of the Lenten hair out of that. I say every load because the more often you do this the better the unit is going to perform also look at the clear front and wipe any lint off of that. Once a week, I also run the tub clean cycle, which does a really good job at getting the lint out of the machine as a hole then you really go clean the filters after that I actually run the tub clean cycle after I have cleaned all the filters and then I’ll do it again to make sure that there’s not extra buildup. Doing this process we regularly can do loads with eight full-size towels and it will wash and dry in about 2 1/2 hours. I do not do the regular wash cycle unless something is very dirty. We do the quick wash and press the dry button on the screen to set it to very dry so you can have a wash that only takes 15 to 20 minutes and then it gets right to drying. My unit that broke had a compressor that failed and leaked all the oil out. I don’t think you can have a partially failed compressor as any leak is going to prevent it from building up heat if you run your unit and put your hand on the front of the door it should feel like it’s getting significantly warm on there. There is a way to get into the settings menu that will let you monitor temperatures in various parts of the unit so that you can tell how well it’s working, but if your unit gets warm too hot, then you should be good and it’s probably just a filters issue if it doesn’t then you likely have a compressor issue.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗

“I work as a maintenance technician at an apartment complex, and about 90% of the property has these LG washer/dryer units. The biggest problem is that people never clean out the lint trap/filter that’s connected to the drain pump. On the newer models, replacing the drain pump is a nightmare. You can’t just swap it out in the apartment. I have to disconnect the whole machine, haul it all the way back to the shop, take it apart, replace the pump, put it back together, and then haul it back to the apartment and reinstall it. Those things are heavy as hell. It would save so much time and money if people just cleaned the filter regularly, since neglecting it is what usually causes the pump to fail in the first place.”From thread: LG “All-In-One” Washer-Dryer ↗
“If you're on a budget, I love my Amana HE washer (Model: NTW4516FW). It's simple but works great. It has an old school agitator and a deep wash option, made by Whirlpool in the USA, parts are cheap (I've never had to work on it in the last 5 years of hard use), and it has simple controls. It's called the Poor Mans Speed Queen. If you're not on a tight budget; you can't beat Speed Queen. Run, don't walk when you see Samsung or LG.”From thread: I’m thinking of buying a Miele washer/dryer. Looking for reviews advice etc. thanks! ↗
“I have a 10 year old stack at a rental property and my personal units are 5 years old and I've never had any issues with either of them. Neither have twindos, I'm very picky about detergent and prefer to use powder most of the time, so that was not a needed feature. I'd never want to use a different machine. They are just top notch for fabric care as the programming is really specified. Sheets and dress shirts are always bright white, you can rewaterproof outerwear and tents, I haven't sent out dry-cleaning in 5 years, all handwash only items are run through the machine. We are also a paper free kitchen, so being able to have a true hot wash @170f means all the grease and stains come out of the napkins and rags. The dryers are great as they are gentler on clothes, so clothes last longer. Whether you should buy one vs a whirlpool is really a question about features. Miele is a laundry computer with a ton of value add, however only you can answer as to what your needs are. Regardless you should get a heat pump dryer to save money on your heating and cooling bills. Vented dryers just blow money outside.”From thread: Miele washer and dryer ↗

“We bought the same basic units a little over 2 years ago. #1 Check to see if the dryer has a light in it. Ours doesn't and it actually mattered to us. We weren't that impressed with the performance, but it was fine. No soak option either. If you pause it for too long, it will drain. They are huge, so I hope you are tall or have long arms. Everyone has different opinions and biases. Ours was that we had to replace our beloved F&P washer and dryer (20 yo). Wish we had paid to have the washer fixed, instead of junked. It's kind of a roll of the dice these days. A lot of GE appliances are made by Midea and LG. F&P is now owned by Haier. Midea also owns Electrolux, Toshiba, and Sharp now. As someone else said, buy from a local appliance dealer that also provides service directly - and buy the extended warranty. If it has a flaw (like leaks or bad main board), after 3 tries at fixing it, they will just refund your purchase price and you can buy something else. “Purchased LG Washer and dryer on line from Home Depot. Was not told you could not return after 48 hours. Per LG, "Didn't you read the manual?" No because it was packed with the unit until my husband could install on the weekend (after 48 hours). Was so excited for a new washer and dryer. These products are inferior to my former set, the Whirlpool duet. When switching the door direction a screw snapped off on both sides of the dryer door. Dryer needs to run several cycles. Told by repairman that dryer needs to run several cycles because my laundry room does not direct vent to the outside, but vent needs to run through my kitchen attic. He suggested I sell the brand new unit as it won't work properly the way my laundry room is configured. We had NO problems with the former dryer. I wish we never made this purchase. GE does make good refrigerators and Bosch would be my first choice for dishwashers.”From thread: What’s the best washer dryer set to buy ↗
“I bought a LG washer. I hate it. Was rated 4.8 lowes. So can't depend on reviews. It takes me a day to wash one load. Plus don't buy any major appliance from Lowes u only have 48 hours to return appliances if you hate it. It worked fine the first 56 hours. Thought I did my due diligence it seems I should of bought a speed queen. They are the washers and dryers in landrymates. Of course they are double the price of any other brand but all the appliance repair people stated that's the only dependable brand and they would never buy any other for their own use. I have a 900 dollar boat anchor. I'm saving for a speed queen. Gone are the days when companies are proud of the products and care for their customers. Big box store aren't worried about return customers they are recovering their losses from shoplifters. Perhaps if they invested into a better loss prevention department they wouldn't be dealing with these thefts. Easier to penalize customers for your incompetence. Sorry didn't realize how angry I was. Otherwise avoid front load washers due to additional maintenance vs top load washers. If you have older units I would recommend fixing them depending on what’s wrong. But I would need model numbers to make sure the parts are still available. Personal preference to avoid LG and Samsung but would highly recommend you getting a extension on the warranty since these appliances nowadays die sooner than later. “I had the LG and Samsung Vented. LG since October 2020 It was in an ADU so not heavy use. This is the model before the heat pump version was released. It had to be repaired three times (only once under warranty). Purchased from Costco but they did not honor the extended warranty through the Citi Visa. In March 2026 the unit was deemed unrepairable and I'm now in the market for a replacement. To me it is not acceptable for a $2,000 laundry appliances to fail in 5 years. In another apartment I have the Samsung Bespoke Vented combo. Had it since summer 2025. It has been finicky - it had a faulty leak detection, but after a software update this has resolved. The wash and dry is excellent. I can't speak to long term durability but this unit is far superior to the LG. Now thinking of replacing the LG with a other Samsung, but the size is an issue. We had to get the unit upstairs and Samsung is much larger than the LG it is replacing. I also need a ventless model for the ADU, and I expect dryer performance to be worse. Whichever model you choose, get an extended warranty. “Never buy an LG home appliance - they are JUNK. Great TVs, crappy appliances! As for front-loaders in general, just realize they're more problematic than traditional top-loaders. BIL had his own appliance-repair biz for 30+ yrs and handed it over to my nephew a few years ago. They've gotten better, but they are generally know to go through bearings that the drums sit on. If you find a repair person who's smart enough to identify the bearings by size, etc; and purchas them from someone who sells bearings - the repair can be reasonable. But most repair places are going to buy the bearings as a kit from the manufacturer or other appliance part supplier and they are a lot more exensive. Unfortunately, the days of appliances lasting 20+ yrs are long gone - so whatever you buy just plan on replacing it in < 10 yrs. I'd also HIGHLY suggest buying from Costco. They automatically give you a 2yr concierge warranty and you can buy an extra 3yrs for a pretty low price. “I just got rid of my LG after 2 years and replaced it with an Electrolux. (By the way, this was my second time buying an LG washer and dryer based on consumer reports and now I really question their legitimacy.) the first set I had, my clothes smelled terrible and musty. And it took like three dry cycles to dry anything. I just thought it was the house I was living in. So stupid me bought them again for my new house (because of consumer reports… they can’t be wrong, right?). Same musty smell. Same not clean clothes. Oh and my dryer almost caught on fire and everything smelled burned. And still took like 3 hours to dry anything. So I just replaced those with Electrolux. I only got them 2 weeks ago but clothes smell clean and good. And it dries in a normal amount of time. Cut my laundry time in a third. I’m still so pissed at myself that I ordered the LG twice. We have a tech every two years come out and clean out coils, vents, filters, etc., and every time we moved we always just conveyed the appliances so granted it hasnt been the same set for 30 years. There are reasons to buy one brand over another, ie GE uses a mold-proof material for their gaskets on the front loaders. Huge reason to pick it over Samsung or LG if you cant leave the washer door open. The price you pay for a Speed Queen is not worth the longevity it might provide. “I did a lot of reading about all three of these and Samsung seems to be the best so far. Now there's not a ton to compare it to but of the big three here the drying performance seems the best. And even people that don't generally like Samsung like this combo best. (The YouTube channel Ben's appliances for example doesn't like Samsung in general but likes this combo unit.) I think it also depends on how you like to do laundry. I like to throw a load in before bed once a day so I'm not opposed to it taking longer to wash and dry. Others like to have a laundry marathon and do 7 loads in one day and get it over with. I think they tend to hate a combo unit. Just depends on your needs.”From thread: Anyone have long term experience with these all in one washer dryers? ↗
“As someone who has spent a lot of time studying this topic, I can provide some general feedback: many people love this product, along with SKUs from competitive products such as SS and LG because they solve a few key needs: 1) saves space in the laundry room, 2) they no longer have to transfer loads. However, dry performance and reliability issues are major issues with these machines for a few reasons - most dryer capacity is 20-30% higher than washers so there is more room to tumble clothes and therefore, the clothes are less likely to be wrinkled and dry faster. Further, while I'm not an engineer, I understand that these machines (Profiles) have a flaw in the filter design such that lint can bypass it leading to reliability issues over time. There have been proposed fixes on youtube, where the filter is modified but I'm unsure whether that addresses the issue. So, while some consumers love it (especially immediately after purchase), others are unhappy with the performance and reliability over time, especially given the very high price tag and claims around cycle time.”From thread: What is the actual deal with the GE Profile washer/dryer combo? I left behind LGs at the old house and these do just as good of a job to be fair and the controls are a lot more sensibly laid out. Make sure to leave the washer cracked to dry out after it's used and run a cleaning cycle a few times a year. I didn't think I would be a fan of these because I've had a couple of Maytag top loaders that I absolutely hated because they shredded clothes. But this set is great. “I think the usefulness of these is completely dependent on your living situation. Suburbanite with a massive laundry room with a nice 240V dryer outlet and a vent to the back yard? I think you'd be crazy to get one of these - the extra complexity/failure points and expense just isn't worth it. My 5 year old, slightly older model has already needed a complete disassembly for lint cleaning and the inlet valves are on their last legs. But for people in apartments in cities there there is no venting and only a 15A 120V circuit to play with, these are a hell of a lot better than a trip to the laundromat. “Some additional insight. LG and Samsung washers are affected by power quality from the utility. They also seem to not do well in older houses on shared circuits, or systems with impeded neutral/ground path. On new houses, properly wired, GF breakers don't nuisance trip like GF receptacles. Ive wired over 20 custom houses for a builder that provides warranty assistance on appliances for the length of the warranty period and I've swapped only a handful of microwaves. When technicians don't work on certain brands, it's been my experience that it's usually because that manufacturer requires the repair man be certified to do so. Most guys would comply with that requirement to protect the warranty of the machine for the sake of owner, and themselves. Also, most tradesmen these days don't ply their respective trades for a living, they earn a paycheck for a living. A lot may not know how to properly fix more advanced machines, so call-back rates are high, ensuring margins are low, or non existent. One thing I know for sure, Samsung and LG are great at electronics. South Koreans are far better at manufacturing than the US, across the board. If there are inferior parts in their machines, it's probably because an American company was involved somewhere along the way.”From thread: Need help finding best washer/dryer for our family ↗
