“Both are garbage. I would go with Frigidaire because parts are easier to get. I have a Frigidaire and so far it's flawless.”

“I just ordered a FLVW7523BW Frigidaire from Costco, we'll see how it goes! My old washer is a Whirlpool, got 14 years out of it. But can't seem to find any decent priced/reviewed Whirlpool's at Costco.”

“I wouldn't buy Samsung unless there was literally no other options to choose from. Their appliances are very unreliable. Personally I would consider the Frigidaire washer and dryer set, as they are inexpensive and have pretty good features for the price. Whether or not they will be reliable is beyond me, but they seem to have good reviews so far. (one person said the dryer has a design flaw that will cause it to not heat for 30 minutes if you open the door mid-cycle. I have no idea if this is true or not, but judging by the fact no one else reported the same problem, I kinda doubt it). Honestly all the other brands break down and have issues, but Maytag, Whirlpool, LG, and some Kenmore models seem to be among the better ones. We have a GE top loader right now, it's a bit finicky at times but honestly a pretty good machine so far. Buying used machines as another person pointed out may be a good idea as well.”

“The newer Frigidaire and Electrolux laundry machines have come a long way from what they used to be.”

“When front load washer became a necessity in the 1990s because of evergy use requirements, frigidaire produced a direct drive front loader. Separate pump. No transmission. Simple design. Frigidaire was a part of white consolidated industries, and they owned Westinghouse. It was out of a retooled Westinghouse factory that the Frigidaire front loader washer and dryer emerged. All this is to say that they have a LONG history in the front loader industry. The name is different, but the history is the same. I bought an early generation Frigidaire front loading pair. The washer lasted 20 years, the dryer is still going. I had a 7 year old Samsung that died. Things aren't as they used to be, and I'm sure shortcuts have been made. Buy my next washer and dryer will be a Frigidaire or Electrolux.”

“I bought my washer and dryer (Frigidaire, Crown series) in 1997 when I bought my house. I'm on my third dryer since then. The washer has been repaired once, after I washed a pocket full of roofing nails. Cost of repair: $67. Several times a technician has been out to repair the dryers. They all tell me, keep the washer until it completely dies, since I will never get another one as good. I just keep wire brushing and painting the rust around the bleach dispenser, but I think I'm almost done with that, the plastic dispenser falls out, because the rusted hole is so big. The washer continues to wash daily loads without a hick-up. Knock on wood. It is ridiculous how short-lived these appliances are today.”

“The “tried and true” brands, Frigidaire, Maytag whirlpool etc. You can always replace a 200 dollar part rather than scrap the whole thing because of old tech on the modern ones.”

“I really like the Frigidaire top load washer (haven't tried the dryer, although they are all pretty much the same), and I've heard LG makes pretty good laundry machines too. Kenmore will probably be similar to the Frigidaire or LG, depending on what model you get. For front loaders specifically, I've heard good things about Electrolux. Everyone here always says to get Speed Queen, and yes, they are built well, but they are priced above what a lot of people are willing/able to pay. Ones to stay away from are Samsung, GE, and Whirlpool built brands including Maytag, Amana, Roper (those being exceptionally cheap and nasty).”

“I think a lot of these GE combos were actually made by Frigidaire, and not well in that parts and labor for them are expensive. I just replaced one because a refurbished Whirlpool was cheaper to buy and install than to fix the GE.”

“Our Frigidaire stacker broke down a couple years ago. We had a technician come out to look and suggested we buy a 15-20 year old direct drive Whirlpool stacker. $400 CAD ($290 USD) total with delivery and installation (we tipped another $50). Almost every used appliance store we went to had 5+ models in stock for around the same price. Easy choice”

“Width. 27"w is tight, but only SQ and Frigidaire seem to make anything under that. The reason is, my Maytag dryer is 29" wide, I didn't realize that was oversize until I got it home. I do like it, so plan on keeping it until it has issues. I can squeeze in another 27 incher if I have to.”

“How is this machine going for you so far? Im looking at it as well. Reviews look good and features but no idea what to trust anymore. Im okay with a shorter lifespan for the lower price.”
