“I bought my LG from Costco which I highly recommend as someone else pointed out. In addition, someone else pointed out Electrolux which I also read good reliability reviews about. “Please do not get a top load. All these new ones no matter the price don’t clean as well as your grandmas old Maytag. Front loaders are scientifically proven to clean better, be more gentle, and more efficient. I highly recommend Electrolux. My wave touch model I bought in 2013 lasted over 10 years of HEAVY use before the bearings started to go bad. I could have fixed it and kept going but didn’t want to do the work at the time. Leave the door and detergent tray open, run a self clean cycle once in a while, occasionally wipe out the seal and you will not have any issues with mold or bad odors. Also the reliability I’m seeing on top loaders these days as horrible!”

“Old thread I know but curious OP what you did. I came to this after researching washers because I am on borrowed time to say the least… I have an Electrolux pair which I can’t believe has so far lasted 14 years! I’ve had some very minor problems (like ones where resetting has fixed it or cleaning a control board) but they are still going strong and we have 2 kids and dogs. I am pretty loyal to the brand right now - I think they earned it.”

“4 yrs now. ZERO issues. Washes and drys like a champ. Make sure to use less detergent and ensure to use Electrolux's own washing machine cleaning agent (best in the whole industry, period) every 6 months. I have the front load and I leave the door open and dispenser door open always. I had a voucher for a full tune-up / servicing from manufacturer after 1 yr. The technician who came happened to be one of their senior guys. Throughly cleaned my stacked unit, found no issues. Gave me 1 advice: he said as per their own analysis the best cleaning is if you use mode = Normal with NOTHING else selected. After following his advice I truly found he's correct. All that steam/stain/white-white/etc. doesn't do much. In fact other than the stain settings in the main dial he said it's a marketing gimmick, for no matter what I select internal sensors ultimately decide the best washing cycle. As for water temp, since I use exclusively Persil or Miele - I always use tap cold.”

“This video is for a drain pump replacement. Phew! All the detaching scared me. I love this Electrolux! It's a few years old and a household of three adults and two children. Easiest I've experienced to clean. Unfortunately, I've moved quite a few times and I deepclean all the washing machines before I use them. I start with running the sanitize cycle. Most machines need something to actually be in the drum, to wash and clean. A lot of washing machines require there to be something in the drum, to run the sanitization cycle and I can't see the water level to tell if the water is clear or not. Then I usually clean the rubber seal all the way around, connected to the drum, as much as I can access with just my hands and maybe some pipe cleaners and a couple cloths. This electrolux washing machine, I can actually see the water level through the glass while it's running the sanitized cycle. This is great, because then I can monitor if I need to run another cycle or do another scrub. I did just run a clean washer. Cycle, and there was some leaking from the bottom under the door. much. So I just wiped it up with a cloth. That water temperature was cold. I immediately ran the sanitize cycle, the water was hot, and there was no leaking.”

“As far as features… best feature line up on the market. Smartboost pull detergent in and premixes it with water, which allows for faster wash cycles, no soap stains. as well as reduces the need for bleach to keep whites white (thus the Broght Whites cycle). BalancedDry is an actual humidity sensor… almost every other auto cycle on the market is determined by a touch sensor which activates cooldown as soon as a dry piece of fabric hits it… so mixed loads end up wet. Pod buster in the dispense tray. And I really like their solution to keep the washer door open, which is that you just can’t close it unless you intentionally do so. I wish it had an auto dispense for detergent… but outside of that its feature are top notch. LG is top for residential front loaders for longevity. I just can’t really call the Speed Queen front loaders residential machines… they are not. 25lb capacity (officially a bit less than that at 22 I think but it’s the same machine as discussed later so… ) while everything else in the market maxes out at 18 lbs. They are ugly laundrymat machines that you happen to be able to put in your home. Alliance lightet use commercial machines are the identical machines to the residential front loaders inside (25 lb) - same exact parts as the true commercialism until. Speed Queen stuff is, by far and away, the best stuff built on the market as far as toughness… But honestly, most people really don’t need that. But if you were going to start doing like laundry service for someone… it is the only option before spending x2.”

“When front load washer became a necessity in the 1990s because of evergy use requirements, frigidaire produced a direct drive front loader. Separate pump. No transmission. Simple design. Frigidaire was a part of white consolidated industries, and they owned Westinghouse. It was out of a retooled Westinghouse factory that the Frigidaire front loader washer and dryer emerged. All this is to say that they have a LONG history in the front loader industry. The name is different, but the history is the same. I bought an early generation Frigidaire front loading pair. The washer lasted 20 years, the dryer is still going. I had a 7 year old Samsung that died. Things aren't as they used to be, and I'm sure shortcuts have been made. Buy my next washer and dryer will be a Frigidaire or Electrolux.”

“I’ve Electrolux for 5 years. Mine are stacked. We do a ton of laundry (sweaty husband, 4 kids), things get soooo clean. I’ve used a wide variety of detergents (powders, liquids, pods) over the years. Ours has the detergent pre mixing feature which I think helps. The tide pod slot is nice too - I get those for my kids to use. Our laundry area is super tight, so they were one of the few sets that actually fit in the space we had AND you can reverse the washer door, which was great because we really wanted right hinge for both machines.”

“I have the 7637 series for less than a year, and the older version for about 4 years. The older version performed great, until the dryer steam nozzle solenoid stuck open and wouldnt stop spraying the dryer with water. Even though it was out of warranty the company was nice enough to exchange the pair to the new models which I'm happy with. I like how mine mixes detergent with water before putting it on the clothes so I never have detergent streaks on my clothes like other brands I've had. I didn't think I'd use the 15 minute wash, 15 minute dry cycles but they definitely come in handy from time to time. Also - The 10 minute steam refresh cycle in the dryer is fantastic. I love that I can come home from work and toss my shirt and pants which I've worn the whole day into the steam refresh cycle while I jump in the shower and go out that night wearing the same outfit as fresh as can be.”

“We ended up purchasing that model about a year ago and I generally have no complaints! We don't have kids, so it's just me, my partner, and my small non-shedding dog. We followed all the guidance that was provided in the manual/posted about above (use as little detergent as possible, make sure to leave the door and detergent drawers open to air out, towel-dry the gasket and door after we're done using it for the day, run a cleaning cycle on it once a month etc.) and it's been running smoothly. We use the 15-minute cycle more than I thought we would for quick refreshes of things, but a lot of the other extra features we never use.If I had to complain...as with any front loader, if you're trying to do a high spin cycle with a bunch of towels it can take a while to balance properly which at its worst can extend your cycle time 30+ min. It also doesn't have one of those drain filters so I am not sure what the long term effects of that will be.”

I have an Electrolux front load washer EIFLS55QT0 it’s now 10years old and in those ten years I’ve only needed to replace the door gasket (1year ago) which had a hole in it. “We've had the LuxWash duo for about four years and zero problems. We often take in dogs in their last years, so that duo handles a lot of pretty disgusting blankets and towels perfectly. I love the pre-mix of detergent and water before it hits the tub. And Sanitary cycle -- water needs to be at 171 degrees to be sanitary and hot water heater temps aren't set that high. We're about to move and our new laundry room has a door opening next to the W/D hookups. No room to prop the washer door open to avoid mildew. So we're forced to get a top load washer again and Electrolux doesn't even make them. Really bummed. Good bye Sanitation and Steam cycles. Get them and enjoy! Worth the extra $$.”

“My experience with (older) Speed Queen has been that they are the best machine for someone who just does not want their washer to break. I lived in a house that came with a Speed Queen W/D pair for several years and never had a single maintenance issue. That could have been luck, or it could have been the appliances. In spite of that, I didn't really like them. It was rough on clothes, but the quality of the wash was poor. I noticed that my new clothes looked new for longer after I moved out of there. I tried varying cycles and detergents, and just couldn't get a result I was happy with. As products, they are well built. As appliances, they didn't really serve my needs. I have heard good things about Electrolux, but don't have a ton of personal experience with them.”

Also, you need to absolutely make sure your water is soft. I went with Electrolux, 3 times Miele size, costs 3 times less and did not detect any loss of quality. With care if they last 10 yeand I but a 2nd unit even after 20 years they will still cost less.”

I am actually working on putting together a few YouTube videos with lessons learned, some basic repairs anyone can do and I am going to try to get official Electrolux answers for some questions and procedures. I will post a link when it is ready. Bottom line from my inside examinations and user look at LG and Electrolux front loaders I am an Electrolux customer. Two quick and important tips to make your machine operate optimally. 1. Don’t overload - no more than 3/4 full 2. Don’t overuse detergent and minimize use of liquid fabric softener.”

“I have two Electrolux washers and both do an excellent job cleaning. I’ve owned an LG and it did not clean as well. The matching Electrolux dryer has been fine. A through wash cycle can take approximately 44-60 minutes and drying can take up to an hour.on the con side you must use the clean machine cycle as recommended and leave the washer door ajar, with the included door feature, to keep the washer gasket mold free and to eliminate any buildup that could eventually cause draining issues.”

“We were in the same boat earlier this year - felt like no matter what brand we looked at there were horror stories in the reviews. After a lot of back and forth we went with the Electrolux laundry tower (the one with SmartBoost) as it was voted best washer and dryer 2024 on a forum. So far it’s been great, it’s efficient, super quiet, and doesn’t beat up our clothes. Plus the stacked design actually makes sense (no weird bending or balancing acts to swap loads). The build quality feels solid and the SmartBoost feature really does help get stains out without loads of detergent. Haven’t had to call customer service yet (knock on wood) but the install process was smooth and everything worked out of the box.”

Kenmore will probably be similar to the Frigidaire or LG, depending on what model you get. For front loaders specifically, I've heard good things about Electrolux. Everyone here always says to get Speed Queen, and yes, they are built well, but they are priced above what a lot of people are willing/able to pay. Ones to stay away from are Samsung, GE, and Whirlpool built brands including Maytag, Amana, Roper (those being exceptionally cheap and nasty).”

“As a repair tech I recommend LG, Electrolux & Speed Queen as the top 3, not necessarily in that order. If we’re talking top load, the speed queen wins hands down, it will last twice as long as the LG. The main complaint on top load speed queens is the noise, and small tub. Speed queens are the most service able laundry out here in my opinion. Electrolux is easily serviced if you know what you’re doing, and LG has terrible support, but easy enough with some experience, I wouldn’t recommend DIY on LG”

“I just got rid of my LG after 2 years and replaced it with an Electrolux. (By the way, this was my second time buying an LG washer and dryer based on consumer reports and now I really question their legitimacy.) the first set I had, my clothes smelled terrible and musty. And it took like three dry cycles to dry anything. I just thought it was the house I was living in. So stupid me bought them again for my new house (because of consumer reports… they can’t be wrong, right?). Same musty smell. Same not clean clothes. Oh and my dryer almost caught on fire and everything smelled burned. And still took like 3 hours to dry anything. So I just replaced those with Electrolux. I only got them 2 weeks ago but clothes smell clean and good. And it dries in a normal amount of time. Cut my laundry time in a third. I’m still so pissed at myself that I ordered the LG twice. The appliance guy I talked to who recommended the Electrolux (or whirlpool) said speed queen was overpriced and overrated. Which tracks with the research I did on those.”

The tech found a loose connection to the panel, reconnected it and it got working! We decided to replace them as the dryer started making weird noises and the clothes drying became uneven. “I bought an Electrolux washer and dryer about 2 years ago. I paid $2000 for the pair. The dryer is fine but the washer is another story. First the thing that keeps the door shut broke off in the machine. I called repairman and it would be a month before they could get here. I ordered the part and replaced it myself. The part was $75 so I saved $200. Next it wouldn't start. I called repairman and again it would be another month. A friend suggested unplugging it over night and that works for awhile. When the repairman came he gave me an estimate of $600 to replace the front panel. I said no way. Then a month later I get an e11 error. It won't work at all. I can't even open the door and take the clothes out that it just washed. I paid $130 service call and $230 for the part. Now 3 months later it won't spin! It just washes and turns off. I'm done! Next week I'm buying a new washer and it won't be an Electrolux!”

“I had Electrolux at my last home which I was renting. At time of move in, the pair was 1 year old and the washer door seal broke at 12month mark. Normally, I would say any washer can break in 24 months but this is not the case here. The design was incredibly poor and prone to damage. I don't want to say it was intentional but definitely not something I would consider a company to make (I've 10+ years as a product design, this is just stupid in my opinion). I would probably not recommend the brand based on that.”

“I've had a new Electrolux for 6 months now and my clothes still come out smelling like cologne, musty, covered in dog hair.... I've tried everything from reducing load size, reducing detergent, increasing detergent.... I don't know what else to do with it but I'm not impressed.”

“I had two electrolux's, one from 2017 which worked perfectly for 3 years until i moved and left it behind (im assuming it's still working fine for the new owners), and when we got another electrolux in 2021, that one ran perfect for 1.5 years until the rubber gasket started leaking and it was going to be a $400-500 to replace the gasket. I went with LG and want something more reliable because these machines aren't cheap when it comes to repairs.”

“BE AWARE OF MALFUNCITONING ELECTROLUX WAHSERS ELFW7637AT2 We purchased the washer about 1.5 months ago. In two weeks after purchase, it started tripping off GFCI outlets in our laundry room. North Carolina code mandates that all outlets in laundry rooms must be the GFCI type in houses built after 2017. Two technicians came and documented the problem but couldn't do anything to fix it. Out of abundance of caution, a certified technician replaced the GFCI outlet in our laundry room, but the machine still tripped it off. Customer support and technical service keep telling us that nothing is wrong with the machine.”

“Been using it 6yr. Already replaced water shutoff unit because of leaking. Now it's not completing the cycle. No spin many times. Sigh. So I have to use rinse/spin as it has no spin only mode. Sigh. Even worse, the rinse/spin mode also stop spinning sometimes. I am looking out for LG.”

“We too have/had an Electrolux washer and dryer. They were expensive and cleaned clothes extremely well. However, it broke down within about a year (the drum) and finding an Electrolux certified repair person to repair it (or else warranty is void) and do it in a timely manner was difficult plus it took weeks to receive parts. Within 5 years everything including the gaskets, drum and motherboard had gone out. Sadly, we had to replace it with something more dependable. Ours was the version recommended by one of those “best reviews” sites.”

“Appliance tech here. Electrolux have finicky conveyors for there soap dispensers I have replaced two conveyors within two months on two different models of Electrolux washers. They really don’t like hard water. They are also really picky about what kind of soap you use and require “clean washer” cycles to function properly. Also there control boards have been crapping out recently. Speed queens are the best they function great and are easy to repair if they do malfunction. LG is straight crap, they had a design flaw with there washer pumps and never acknowledged it, you will continue to have problems with any LG washer regardless if you replace the pump. Whirlpool GE are tied for the best bang for your buck. Overall Electrolux aren’t the worst but they aren’t in the running for the best either.”

“We purchased the Wave Touch front loader set in late 2021 and my washing machine is done. Had a tech out today and shared the tub on our washer is not round, give yours a spin and keep your eye on the bottom and see if it’s a bit off as it goes around. This caused out of balance in our washer which gradually got worse as the shock absorbers and bearings began to take the toll. Electrolux is willing to send us a drum but will not cover any other parts or labor. The repair would cost more than what it would cost to replace it. I’m welcome to any advice or feedback, as of now I am not an Electrolux fan and would advise you to not try Electrolux and planning to try Speedy Queen.”

“I am literally in this same exact situation right now. front loader set called perfect steam with luxcare, purchased in late 2020. my repair situation has been ongoing for 4+ months now with the same exact issue of the balance, bearing, and shock absorber. they sent out the first company to replace the drum, which they didn’t actually do since they didn’t have the additional parts nor did they do that specific repair beyond the drum (i don’t think this guy knew the full issue w the shock absorbers until he got here to replace the drum & opened it up). so electrolux sent another repair man out, and they just got back to me saying they won’t authorize the repair now. am also not a fan and do not recommend”

“That seal is a PROBLEM. I bought the electrolux set with the house we're in. It took the better part of a day (!!) to clean out the gunk left in the grooves of that seal by the previous owner. I wipe it out the best I can weekly and run a sanitize cycle with an Affresh tablet at least biweekly. And the damned thing still leaks.”

“Echoing this. Electrolux sucks, and is LITERALLY impossible to clean. The gasket cannot be fully accessed and it’ll just sit there collecting mold on the underside until you replace it again.”

“I have an Electrolux and I hate it. No soak feature, uses so little water, it feels like the clothes don’t get clean. Whites are so dingy. I use very little soap and the extra rinse feature, but it doesn’t really help. No issues with repairs (haven’t needed any), but I’d give anything to have my old Bosch set (we sold our old place and moved, so I had to buy a new set).”

“When I was ready to buy a new washer and dryer like you I couldn’t find any obvious choices at any price point. So I asked two people I know that have way too much money and aren’t afraid to spend it. One basically said he buys a new top of the line LG set every few years. That’s what we already had and we wanted to get out of the front-loader business because it just seemed to get dirty. His solution was to have his cleaning people follow some wild cleaning ritual pretty often and then just get rid of them every few years even if they were working fine. Then I asked a friend and she had recent purchased Electrolux ones for like $2500 each. But despite the cost a couple years later the washer still broke and she had a hard time finding someone to repair it so she was displeased to say the least. So she arrived at the same conclusion I did. Just but the cheapest ones you can live with and just assume you’ll be replacing them every few years. So I bought a higher level Samsung and so far so good but it’s only been a year or two. I’ll just replace them whenever something goes wrong and I won’t look back. Sure it’s BS but the sooner you just acknowledge that they are all crap the better off you’ll be.”

“I have had an Electrolux since 2018. Had a few repairs on it and now the last few months it’s been one thing after another with them. First the washer and now the dryer is making a loud humming noise and the repair man can’t figure it out. I decided to get a new set and went with speed queen. Expensive but hopefully will last! And also my Electrolux washer has stunk since the first year of purchase even with monthly cleaning.”

“I believe speed queen top load washer and dryers is the only brand right now that still uses mechanical timer and the least amount of digital electronics.. which means they’re serviceable in the future. Every other brand practically relies on a digital board. And most of the times if the tech can’t diagnose it. They’ll push a new washer on to you... just my personal preference. Although we have Electrolux front loaders in my house against my will. Whatever makes my wife happy I suppose”

“I have ruled out Speed Queen, but I am also planning to replace my decade old LG front loader set with another LG front loader set. The only other set I am looking at is Electrolux. They are not rated as highly as LG on Consumer Reports, but they are now Wirecutter's second choice after LG. My local appliance store recommended an Electrolux set, which is now on my radar. Because I already have pedestals, I think I will end up with LG though.”

“I'm looking at those same brands. I'm down to deciding between Electrolux and LG. The Electrolux has a higher average rating on Home Depot's site (also with more reviews and fewer 1 star reviews than the LG). I'm curios to see what you end up choosing.”

“I have a SpeedQueen FF7 front loader, with matching pedestal. It was extremely expensive compared to other options, but I don't regret my purchase. Yes, it is ugly compared to the other brands, but no one ever sees my laundry room except me so I don't care. It is truly built like a tank, and I've had zero problems with it. It is capable of doing loads very quickly depending on the settings chosen. An Electrolux front loader would have been my second choice and I did consider it. I would have gotten a SpeedQueen top load TR5 or TR7 model, but a member of my household is very short and struggles to reach the bottom of the basket, hence the reason for the front loader. I also work in an industrial setting, and I get nasty stuff on my clothes, including oil, coolant, and other chemicals. It handles them just fine, and my clothes come out clean. I don't think the SpeedQueen dryer is much better than the one I already owned, so I did not purchase it, and don't recommend it unless you just HAVE to have a matching set.”

“Question for you please. Do you still like your Electrolux washer? I just got a 7637 series top loader today. “Lg over Electrolux. Electrolux is a good brand however you can’t easily clean the drain filter. On an lg it’s accessible from the front. Electrolux outs there inside the drain hose under the machine. Not an easy job or DIY for most”

“I hear you. Ours are from 2016 and I just want to get another year or two out of them while I spend this year’s paychecks solving more urgent problems. The Electrolux units are irritating but they do work. The dryer is a problem. It’s paint-mixer loud for no real reason. We tore it apart, checked the bearings… it just rattles like a chain smoker’s lungs for fun I suppose.”

“I also spend a lot of money on the most retro looking, featureless, dryer of all time because I thought it would be the best at what it needed to do... dry clothes. From the jump, it took multiple 70 minute cycles to dry a single load of laundry that my cheap electrolux dried in one. Unfortunately, the electrolux circuit board fried and it was way too expensive to fix. The SQ was under warranty so we had a tech come out and he blamed it on airflow. So we paid $200 to have the vent cleaned out but the issue persists. Now we are being told the loads must be too heavy bc it is working fine. In addition, there is a black mesh screen in the back of the dryer that melts and leaves beautiful black waffle designs on your clothing and white bedding. This screen, now deformed, is great at putting snags in your clothing too. We will also be cutting our losses on the SQ.”

“We just replaced our Electrolux set with the GE Profile Combo and love it. It’s a single unit, with a heat pump dryer. The only input is a standard 110 electric plug. People warned me that the cycle time was long, but I’m fine to trade time for energy efficiency and convenience of a single unit. The fact that you don’t have to move the load from the washer to the dryer? Totally amazing. You load it, launch it, and take it out when the app chimes (or when Alexa tells you, ‘Your laundry is done!’”

“We were looking at Electrolux, but they ended up being too large for the space that we had. Opted for the LG WM4100HBA front load washer and DLEX4200B dryer. We use it 3-4x per week; it’s been 1.5 yrs and we are happy. For the dryer, we don’t use the steam function as much as we thought we would. General advice to prolong the life of washer: Let the machine cool down for 20-30 min between loads. Run a clean cycle and clean the filter once per month. Don’t use liquid fabric softener. Wipe the door seal dry after use and leave the door open between washes. I’m hoping to get 8-10 years out of them 🤞🏾”
