“Appliance repair guy, they are all terrible every brand is built to last max 7 years, coinciding with the length of time they have to maintain parts. If you don’t want to spend for the speed queen or Bosch, go cheap and use the extended warranty, higher end LG/Whirlpool/Samsung all use the same parts as the low end just more useless functions. But I rarely saw the latest version of the basic Samsung whereas I would see at least 2 a day of the basic whirlpool front load.”

“We just replaced our Samsung (after only 5 years) for a T1 and W1. Worlds apart. I’m so happy. My wife insisted on Miele. I wanted a Bosch. But for the few hundred extra I would not hear it if anything would be off the coming years. I think Bosch would have been solid too. But these things are amazing.”

“I have had nothing but problems with my Miele clothes washer. I would never buy one again. The problem is the TwinDos system. The blue liquid gets gummy and pops the hose flooding the base floor. I’ve had three service calls in two months and $400 in parts. Today, first attempt to use after the last service call and it immediately shows a waterproof error. I’ve had Bosch forever in a second home with zero issues.”

“I have an Electrolux and I hate it. No soak feature, uses so little water, it feels like the clothes don’t get clean. Whites are so dingy. I use very little soap and the extra rinse feature, but it doesn’t really help. No issues with repairs (haven’t needed any), but I’d give anything to have my old Bosch set (we sold our old place and moved, so I had to buy a new set).”

“Ditto. 18 years on mine. Just replaced the rubber door seal on washer last week but otherwise everything still running smooth. Same for dryer, only had to replace heating element 2 years ago (affordable & easy to do myself) and it’s still going strong as well. Been well worth the extra $ for them.”

“I own one from Bosh, it's really great and it is ok in terms of drying performance. Since a cycle lasts longer and the load for the dryer is limited to 5kg as opposed to max 8kg for washing only, you'll have to run it more often if you have a big family.”

“I have had a Bosch front loading washer and dryer pair for about 20 years now and other than replacing a sensor that I was able to service myself they have worked great. I bought them on sale from a shop that was going out of business and even with that they were a little more expensive than Maytag or GE (the big makers back then) but the washer uses 4 litres of water per cycle and still does a good job of cleaning.”

“Speed Queen, Bosch, Maytag Commercial, Whirlpool (Whirlpool more for the fact they're easy to fix and get parts more than reliability). Samsung is probably the worse, made in China, really flimsy construction to keep shipping down parts are hard to get, and expensive when you can find them. Asian brands (and GE is now one of them, part of Haier) have really poor parts availability, they're motto is to "replace" rather than fix.”

“Miele or Bosch (German made) front loaders. I’ve had 2 Miele’s for the last 25 years. Built like tanks. The rubber door seal got torn on the second Miele because someone left a screw in a pocket that went through the wash. Wasn’t going to be cheap to fix through a service agent, so bought the part online. I’m not that handy, but replaced it myself with the help of YouTube. I do recommend a set of rubber washing machine feet too. They really do cut down the vibration. (Had posted a link to an example but appears it breaks the rules)”

“Hi, I would suggest to look at the machines on the market using the KW/h and Energy rating as a guide to make a good informed decision. I live in the UK and would recommend Bosch, Siemens, LG as in the UK and European market they tend to last 10-12 years and are energy efficient too.”

“Miele if you have a generous budget… Bosch if space is a concern and you already have the specialty plug. If you’re on a budget like I am… I’ve had great luck with Beko. I hate “smart” appliances so these have all offered models that are thankfully without WiFi connectivity, etc…”

“So, here is what I gathered: Go buy the most expensive model (SpeedQueen, Miele…) They don’t break, last forever, blah blah… I’ve had GE (or LG, Whirlpool, or insert the brand you have) for X number of years, it works… I’ve had GE (or LG, Whirlpool, or insert the brand you have) for X number years, it’s garbage, don’t even think about it… In another words it’s like a lottery, they either work or they don’t, there is no way to know. PS. I had a Bosch 800 series dishwasher, it was one of the best reviewed and recommended model, expensive too. It worked only 1.5 years. 4 different “Bosch certified” repairmen came and couldn’t fix it. I finally gave up and got rid of it.”

“In my 1996 whirlpool top loader, the rust around the dispenser mirrored rust in the actual line into the tub. Put bleach in, leaks straight out from under washer. Nonetheless, washer keeps going & I will keep it till it dies unrepairable. I got rid of Samsung & Bosch frontliaders to return to this old school gem and I love her very much”

“Had a Bosch washer die recently after 10 years and parts not available to consumers. Was about to try going through distributors but due to it not even being clear what parts were broken, gave up and replaced it. Not sure if Bosch also has a similar at-least-10-years policy or not.”

“Yes, it's worth it. I've had a few Bosch WD units, lots of problems, and not easy to clean the filter and pull out assembly. Then I switched to Miele, so much better in performance, quietness, and better results.”

“No one is paying me for my reviews here. I've worked on all of those brands listed and dealt with tech support and warranty departments. Miele would be my second choice after Speed Queen. Maytag or Whirlpool would be my 3rd. GE, Bosch, Samsung and LG I would take a set of washer and dryer for free or buy dirt cheap but wouldn't pay retail for. GE does make good refrigerators and Bosch would be my first choice for dishwashers.”
